About this role Work as a Carpenter based in Temple, TX performing general carpentry on active commercial jobsites. You'll read plans, lay out work, cut and install lumber and finish materials, and repair or replace damaged structures. Daily work includes building guardrails, steps, ramps, walls, floors, doors and cabinets using hand and power tools. This is hands-on, site-based work in indoor and outdoor conditions. Expect to climb ladders and scaffolds and operate boom or scissor lifts as required. Strong attention to safety is required - participate in pre-task plans, toolbox talks and jobsite safety inspections. OSHA-10 is required for this role; advancement toward foreman roles (OSHA-30) is available for qualified carpenters.
What you'll do- Build and install guardrails, steps, ramps, walls, floors, doors and cabinets to plan specifications
- Read blueprints and layout plans; measure accurately and cut lumber/materials to size
- Operate hand and power tools (saws, drills, sanders, pneumatic tools) and small mechanical equipment
- Inspect and repair damaged structures and fixtures; evaluate lumber grade and material condition
- Maintain tool and material inventory, perform delivery load counts and general site cleanup
- Work safely at heights on ladders, scaffolds, boom lifts and scissor lifts; participate in pre-task plans and toolbox talks
What we're looking for- Proven carpentry experience on commercial construction projects (frame and finish work)
- Ability to read blueprints, perform basic site layout and accurate measuring/cutting
- Skilled with hand and power tools, saws and common site equipment
- Comfortable lifting and moving materials (can lift over 50 lbs with assistance) and working at heights
- OSHA-10 certification required and strict adherence to site safety procedures
- Reliable transportation to local sites and ability to work in varying weather and jobsite conditions
Qualifications- OSHA-10 (required)
- OSHA-30 (preferred for foreman/lead roles)
- Journeyman carpenter credential or equivalent commercial carpentry experience (preferred)
- Forklift certification (preferred)
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation (preferred)
