DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

The ASCPL is hiring a Graphic Designer to support our Mission Statement to provide resources for learning and leisure, information services, meeting spaces, and programs for all ages that support, improve, and enrich individual, family, and community life.

The Graphic Designer works full-time (37.5 hours per week) with a creative team on-site at Main Library in downtown Akron to support the layout, design, and preparation of the Library’s branding, design, and promotional artwork. Duties include creating, designing, and preparing physical and digital artwork and design concepts; designing and preparing layouts for Library publications; and functioning as an internal marketing consultant with the Library’s employees to help guide the creative design process.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

Required:Some college coursework or Associate’s degree in Graphic Design or a related field. Knowledge of creative content production and marketing principles and practices. Skill in visual art production. Skill in graphic design and with graphic design software, such as Adobe Creative Suite and/or similar technologies and tools. Understanding of the principles of intellectual freedom. Ability to use a computer and job-related software or systems applicable to the essential functions of the job. Ability to pass criminal background and education verification checks. Ability to lift light objects (less than 25 pounds) and carry them short distances (50 feet or less). Ability to work irregular hours, including evenings and weekends, as needed.

Preferred: Bachelor’s degree is preferred. Two or more years of related experience.
