Bridget Killen from Robert Half is recruiting for a controller in Albany, Oregon. This position oversees reporting, cost accounting, and core accounting functions while delivering analysis that supports sound business decisions. The ideal candidate brings strong financial leadership, a solid understanding of inventory and production costing, and the ability to strengthen controls and reporting accuracy.
Responsibilities:
• Produce accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports, including key statements that reflect the organization’s financial position and performance.
• Oversee inventory accounting and product costing across raw materials, in-process production, and completed goods to support accurate valuation and margin visibility.
• Analyze differences between actual financial results and plans or forecasts, then present findings and practical recommendations to leadership.
• Establish and track performance measures that help evaluate manufacturing efficiency, spending trends, and cost management efforts.
• Interpret financial data, identify meaningful patterns or risks, and communicate opportunities to improve profitability and operational performance.
• Direct day-to-day accounting activities, including receivables, payables, budgeting, forecasting, and related financial administration.
• Manage banking activity and purchasing-related financial transactions to help maintain effective cash flow and accurate records.
• Partner with external auditors and support compliance with company policies, reporting standards, and financial governance expectations.
• Design, maintain, and improve internal controls that protect assets and promote reliable financial reporting.

• Experience in a Controller or senior accounting leadership role within a manufacturing or product-based environment.
• Strong knowledge of cost accounting, inventory valuation, and month-end close processes.
• Demonstrated ability to prepare financial statements and manage budgeting and forecasting activities.
• Proficiency in financial analysis, including variance reporting and performance measurement.
• Hands-on understanding of accounts payable, accounts receivable, banking, and purchasing transactions.
• Familiarity with internal controls, audit coordination, and financial compliance practices.
• Strong communication skills with the ability to present financial insights clearly to leadership.
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required.
