Devops Engineer - Database and ETL

Scope:
This position is responsible for meeting the goals and operational activities related to corporate data aggregation and analysis. This role is responsible for designing, implementing, monitoring, and maintaining robust data infrastructure that supports enterprise applications, analytics, reporting and operational workloads. Solutions will be based around both proprietary and open-source tools, while working collaboratively with the production team, developers, and IT personnel to build, evolve, and scale high performance and maintainable solutions to meet growing business.

The ideal candidate combines DevOps best practices with expertise in database technologies, cloud platforms, CI/CD pipelines, and data integration processes.

This position reports to the Exec. Dir Software Development and Operational tech.

Essential Job Function:

• Evaluates, automates, and optimizes processes, building infrastructure through code and streamlining pipelines, monitoring, and incident response processes, following industry standards and best practices
• Develop ETL pipelines, and automation to extract source data, transform to map to the target model and/or cleanse the data, and load into a data warehouse or analytical model
• Configure the operational and analytical database(s) to host data, and develop data marts to meet the business requirements
• Optimize the ETL data pipelines code and configure data interface tools and APIs as needed
• Create visualizations via PowerBI and other tools
• Follows the SDLC process and adheres to company coding standards to produce high quality software
• Able to learn quickly and automate, integrate, deploy, or release solutions using tools, scripting, or coding as needed.
• Continuously striving for improvement, evaluating new approaches, industry standards, new tooling, etc. and producing recommendations for improvements
• Maintains established SLAs, SLIs, SLOs, and monitors systems, assessing lead time for changes, change failure rate, deployment frequency, mean time to recover, and availability, striving for continuous operational improvement and improved user satisfaction
• Proficient at problem management including definition, brainstorming, and determining a resolution through collaboration
• Establishes and maintains thorough and accurate documentation of all work; communicates technical issues within scope of assignment; Produces and reviews technical specification documentation
• Maintain revision control of developed software according to company guidelines

Essential Qualifications, Education and Experience:

· Bachelor’s Degree in a field of science or engineering plus three years of experience in software development, data analysis and ET, or equivalent experience.

· Demonstrated understanding of Computer Science fundamentals and proficiency in one or more programming languages (Primary language is Python)

· Python Development using Python 3.x

· Microsoft SQL (2+ years), Progress, Oracle, MySQL

· Containers; Docker, Kubernetes (preferably on Azure), etc.

• Experience with UNIX/Linux (RedHat/CentOS/Oracle preferred)
• Version control using Git/GitHub
• PowerBI
• SSIS

Physical Requirements:

· Sit for long periods of time.

· Repeat the same movements.

· Ability to lift 25 pounds from time to time
