About this role Seeking an experienced heavy equipment operator to join a civil construction crew in Cartersville, GA. You will run a variety of earthmoving machines across local project sites, follow site layout and grade plans, and help keep equipment ready for work. This role is project-based and typically full-time. Schedule varies by project (generally daytime hours, possible overtime and occasional weekend work). Candidates should be dependable, safety-focused, and skilled on multiple pieces of equipment.
What you'll do- Operate graders, dozers, loaders, excavators, backhoes, skid steers, scrapers and dump trucks to complete earthmoving and site-prep tasks
- Perform daily machine inspections, routine maintenance, and basic troubleshooting to keep equipment serviceable
- Load and unload materials and equipment safely on site; secure loads for transport as needed
- Follow site layout, grade stubs, and civil construction plans to achieve specified elevations and tolerances
- Coordinate with foremen, survey crews and other trades to maintain workflow and meet schedule
- Maintain a clean, safe work area and follow all site safety rules, flagging and traffic control when required
What we're looking for- Proven experience operating a range of heavy equipment on civil construction projects
- Ability to read basic site layout/grade plans and work to grade stakes
- Hands-on skills for general heavy equipment maintenance and daily inspections
- Comfortable loading/unloading material and operating on uneven terrain and in all weather
- Dependable attendance, good communication with crew and foreman, and ability to follow directions
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation to/from the Cartersville jobsite
Qualifications- Valid driver's license; clean driving record
- Class A or B CDL preferred for dump truck or heavy-haul roles
- OSHA-10 (or OSHA-30) preferred
- Equipment operator certification (NCCER or equivalent) preferred
- Ability to pass pre-employment drug screen and background check
- English proficiency for safety communication; bilingual candidates a plus
