Sample Processing & Laboratory Coordinator – Food Testing

Job Type: Contract – 12 Months
Pay: $23.00/hour W2
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 40 hours/week
Work Setting: 100% Onsite
About the Role
BCforward is looking for a Sample Processing & Laboratory Coordinator to support a busy commercial food testing laboratory in Golden Valley, MN. This role focuses on sample preparation, processing, labeling, tracking, data entry, and laboratory sendouts.
The ideal candidate will have laboratory experience or a science-related degree and be comfortable working in a fast-paced, high-volume laboratory environment where accuracy and attention to detail are important.
Responsibilities
- Prepare samples for laboratory testing using grinding mills, blenders, Magic Bullet grinders, and other comminution equipment.
- Process, aliquot, label, organize, store, and dispose of samples according to procedures.
- Accurately label sample containers using assigned unique identifiers.
- Enter sample preparation and delivery information into LIMS (Laboratory Information Management System).
- Prepare samples and documentation for shipment to third-party laboratories.
- Track samples throughout the laboratory workflow and maintain accurate records.
- Follow laboratory safety and quality procedures, including GMP, OSHA, ISO, and PPE requirements.
- Work effectively in a high-volume environment while managing changing priorities.
Required Qualifications
- 2+ years of laboratory experience OR an AS/BS degree in a science-related field.
- Experience with sample preparation, sample processing, or laboratory operations.
- Ability to work with computer systems including LIMS and Microsoft Office.
- Strong attention to detail and accurate data entry skills.
- Ability to multitask and prioritize work in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to work independently and follow established procedures.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in food testing or commercial laboratory environments.
- Experience with comminution/sample grinding techniques.
- Experience with cryogenic handling or liquid nitrogen.
- Familiarity with laboratory sample sendout processes.
Schedule Requirements
The position is onsite Monday through Friday. Candidates must be available for both shifts:
- 7:00 AM – 3:00 PM
- 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM
The shifts will alternate during the week.
Physical & Safety Requirements
- Ability to lift up to 40 lbs.
- Ability to stand for approximately 5–6 hours per day.
- Ability to work while wearing required PPE, including laboratory coat, safety glasses, face shield, hearing protection, cryogenic gloves, and steel-toe shoes.
- Steel-toe shoes are required.
- This position may involve exposure to common food, environmental, and chemical allergens.
