A day in this role
In our Siler City, NC shop, you’ll take ownership of parts from blueprint to finished component for the industrial machinery and conveyor systems we build. Your day starts by reviewing prints, planning setups, and choosing tooling. You’ll program and edit at the control, dial in speeds and feeds, and run first-article parts on CNC lathes and mills. When a one-off or special feature calls for it, you’ll jump onto manual equipment to make it happen. Throughout the run, you’ll measure with precision tools, adjust offsets, and troubleshoot independently to keep quality and throughput on point.
What you will do
- Set up, program, edit, and operate CNC lathes and mills; switch to manual machines as needed.
- Interpret engineering and shop drawings to plan machining strategies.
- Select cutters, holders, speeds/feeds, and methods to achieve tolerance and finish.
- Perform setups, verify first-piece, and make on-the-fly adjustments.
- Inspect in-process and finished parts using precision measuring instruments.
- Troubleshoot issues, correct toolpaths/parameters, and maintain quality standards.
- Work with varied metals and industrial components from rough stock to final piece.
- Keep a clean, organized, and safe workstation while meeting schedule commitments.
What you bring
- Proven experience as a CNC/Manual Machinist operating both CNC and manual equipment.
- Strong CNC programming and editing ability (this is not a run-only operator role).
- Hands-on background with both lathes and mills and independent setup capability.
- Fluency reading technical drawings and machining specifications.
- Deep understanding of tooling, measurement, tolerances, and machining processes.
- High attention to detail, quality mindset, and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
Shop environment & schedule
- Clean, well-maintained industrial manufacturing facility.
- Approximately 20–25 employees on the production floor.
- Part of a full manufacturing process producing industrial machinery and conveyor systems.
- Primarily a straight day-shift schedule.
- Some overtime may be available.
Ideal fit
We’re looking for a complete machinist who can independently carry a job from setup through final inspection without needing step-by-step direction.
Employment Requirements
- Successful completion of a standard background check.
- Successful completion of a 4-panel drug screen (no THC).
- Reliable attendance and ability to work the scheduled shift.
