Job Description

This Project Engineer role supports a major industrial construction project in Terre Haute, Indiana with a leading electrical and industrial contractor. It is an excellent opportunity for a recent Construction Management or Engineering graduate, or an early-career construction professional, to gain hands-on experience working closely with Project Managers and field leadership on a large active jobsite. The position focuses on construction project coordination, documentation, and communication to help keep field operations organized and running smoothly.

Responsibilities

• Assist Project Managers and field leadership with day-to-day project execution on a large industrial construction site.
• Track and maintain project documentation, schedules, and field activities to support effective project control.
• Coordinate between field crews, subcontractors, and project leadership to ensure clear communication and smooth workflow.
• Manage reports, project logs, RFIs, tracking spreadsheets, and general project administration with a high level of accuracy.
• Function as an Assistant Project Manager / Field Coordinator, serving as an extension of the project management team.
• Help organize field operations and keep project stakeholders aligned on daily priorities and deliverables.
• Support project communication by capturing updates from the field and sharing information with leadership and relevant stakeholders.
• Operate effectively in both office and field environments, transitioning between administrative tasks and on-site coordination as needed.
• Interact comfortably with multiple stakeholders, including craft workers, subcontractors, and project leadership, to support large field crews.
• Demonstrate initiative as a self-starter by identifying needs, following up on open items, and working with limited supervision.
• Maintain organized records and detailed documentation to support project tracking and reporting requirements.

Essential Skills

• Construction management and industrial construction experience or exposure, gained through work experience, internships, or relevant coursework.
• 1–3 years of experience in construction or a related field preferred, but not required for strong entry-level candidates.
• Strong computer proficiency, particularly in Microsoft Office and construction documentation tools.
• Ability to manage and update reports, project logs, RFIs, tracking spreadsheets, and other project administration documents.
• Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field preferred.
• Strong communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with field personnel, subcontractors, and project leadership.
• Organized and detail-oriented approach to documentation, scheduling, and coordination tasks.
• Self-starter mindset with the ability to operate with limited supervision in a fast-paced project environment.
• Ability to work comfortably in both office and field settings and to navigate a large active industrial jobsite.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Construction Management or Engineering background with relevant coursework and internship experience.
• Comfort interacting with multiple stakeholders and supporting large field crews of approximately 120 craft workers.
• Experience or familiarity with industrial construction environments and large-scale project execution.
• Demonstrated ability to maintain organized project documentation and support daily administrative functions.
• Interest in developing a career in construction project management, field coordination, or industrial construction operations.

Work Environment

The role is based in Terre Haute, Indiana, supporting a large active industrial construction project. The typical schedule is five days per week, with the project currently operating on approximately five 10-hour days plus an 8-hour day. Occasional Saturday support may be beneficial but is not required. You will work closely with Project Managers and field leadership and interact heavily with approximately 120 craft workers, subcontractors, and project leadership on site. The position involves a blend of office and field work, requiring comfort in an industrial jobsite environment and frequent coordination with field personnel. Per diem may be considered for strong candidates, and while local candidates are preferred.

This is a Contract position based out of Terre Haute, IN.

The pay range for this position is $35.00 - $40.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.

This is a fully onsite position in Terre Haute,IN.
