Job Description

This role offers an opportunity to work as a manufacturing laborer in a dynamic industrial environment, where you use hand tools and power tools to finish materials before they are shipped. You perform a variety of general labor tasks, operate basic machinery, and support packaging activities in a large warehouse setting. The position is physically demanding and requires consistent lifting of 50 pounds or more while working safely and efficiently as part of a small team.

Responsibilities

• Utilize hand tools and power tools to finish materials to required specifications prior to shipment.
• Perform general labor tasks, including moving, staging, and organizing materials throughout the warehouse.
• Operate basic machinery and equipment associated with material finishing and packaging, following all safety procedures.
• Assist with packaging finished materials to ensure they are properly prepared and secured for shipment.
• Handle and lift materials weighing 50+ pounds consistently throughout the shift while maintaining safe lifting practices.
• Work effectively in a large open warehouse environment with industrial equipment, including overhead cranes, and remain aware of surroundings.
• Collaborate with a small team of fewer than 20 people to meet production goals and maintain a smooth workflow.
• Arrive on time, follow established schedules, and maintain strong work ethic and punctuality.
• Follow all safety guidelines and housekeeping standards to keep the work area clean, organized, and free of hazards.
• Communicate clearly with team members and supervisors about progress, issues, or safety concerns.

Essential Skills

• Demonstrated general labor or mechanical aptitude, even without prior manufacturing experience.
• Ability to consistently lift and carry 50+ pounds throughout the shift.
• Comfort working in a very industrial environment with heavy equipment and machinery.
• Basic proficiency using hand tools and power tools safely.
• Capability to operate simple machinery and equipment as trained.
• Strong work ethic and reliability, with a commitment to punctuality.
• Attention to safety procedures and willingness to follow established guidelines.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a small team in a warehouse setting.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience in general labor, machine operation, or packaging is helpful but not required.
• Mechanical interest that supports learning new tools and equipment.
• Willingness to learn new processes and adapt to changing production needs.
• Comfort working around large overhead cranes and industrial warehouse operations.

Work Environment

You work in a large open warehouse that features a highly industrial setting with large overhead cranes and material handling equipment. The team is small, with fewer than 20 people, fostering close collaboration and clear communication. This position is on the second shift, typically from 1:00 p.m. to 9:30 p.m., requiring comfort with evening hours. The environment is physical, with frequent lifting of 50+ pounds and regular use of hand tools, power tools, and basic machinery. Dress appropriately for an industrial warehouse, with practical work attire and any required safety gear such as sturdy footwear and protective equipment as provided or specified.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Saco, ME.

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $22.50/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
