POSITION SUMMARY
Inspect incoming materials, in-process parts, and finished manufacturing products for defects or deviations from specifications. Verify conformance to blueprints, drawings, plans, and other quality requirements; document inspection results; identify quality issues; and recommend corrective or process improvements.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Inspect and approve incoming products or parts by confirming specifications and conducting visual and dimensional/measurement inspections; identify and reject nonconforming material as appropriate.
- Inspect finished products to verify conformance with blueprints, drawings, plans, specifications, and established quality standards; route nonconforming products to the appropriate work area for correction or rework.
- Clean parts using approved solvents or other approved methods to remove debris and help prevent oxidation, following applicable safety procedures and required personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Document inspection details, measurements, findings, and disposition of inspected products in the applicable sales and inventory system.
- Identify and help resolve quality-related issues in a timely manner, including communicating findings to production personnel and appropriate management.
- Route parts requiring assembly, repair, or additional processing to the appropriate department in accordance with specifications and established procedures.
- Recommend improvements to production and inspection processes and provide quality-related guidance or training to production team members as assigned.
- Report recurring quality issues, patterns, or significant nonconformances to the Supervisor or other designated management personnel.
OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Complete quality reports or other customer-requested quality documentation as assigned.
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned, consistent with the general nature and level of responsibility of the position.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS (KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES)
- At least one year of quality control, inspection, manufacturing, or related experience.
- Basic math skills, including the ability to perform measurements and compare results to specified tolerances.
- Basic computer and data-entry skills sufficient to accurately document inspection results and related information.
- Experience using measuring and inspection devices such as fixtures, gauges, micrometers, calipers, master gauges, and other measuring instruments.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, specifications, and other technical instructions applicable to the work.
- Ability to read, write, and understand job-related information in English to the extent necessary to safely and effectively perform the position, including understanding specifications and safety instructions and documenting inspection results.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to communicate quality findings and work effectively with employees at different levels of the organization.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy and product quality.
