Plastic Injection Molding Shift Lead
Available Shifts:
- 1st Shift: 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. (Monday – Friday)
- 2nd Shift: 4:00 p.m. – 12:30 a.m. (Monday – Friday)
Location Notice:
This position is currently located in Fowler, CA. The facility will be relocating to Visalia, CA in the coming months; candidates must be able to commute to both locations.
REQUIREMENT NOTICE: PLASTICS EXPERIENCE MANDATORY
Applicants without prior experience in plastic injection molding or plastics processing will not be considered.
- Plastics Background: Must have direct, hands-on experience working in plastics injection molding or plastics manufacturing.
- Verifiable Leadership: Must have past experience directing floor teams, operators, or shift operations (e.g., Shift Lead, Floor Lead, Cell Lead, or Supervisor).
This is a specialized plastics leadership role, not an entry-level machinist or general manufacturing lead position.
Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Plastic Injection Molding Shift Lead to run floor operations, direct team members, and ensure high-efficiency production. This is a hands-on, floor-active leadership role for someone who knows the plastics industry, understands injection molding machinery, and can step in to solve processing, material, or quality issues on the fly.
This is not a desk job or a general supervisory role. You will work directly on the production floor alongside operators and technicians. While minor site-specific processes can be trained, prior plastics knowledge and floor leadership experience are strictly required to qualify.
Key Responsibilities
Plastics Shift Operations & Leadership
- Lead, direct, train, and support machine operators, material handlers, and technicians throughout the shift.
- Monitor production schedules, shift output, machine performance, and staffing levels.
- Enforce safety protocols (including LOTO), quality standards, and overall accountability on the floor.
- Conduct structured shift handoffs and maintain clear production records, scrap logs, and shift reports.
Technical Oversight & Troubleshooting
- Continuously monitor injection molding processes, mold performance, and part quality.
- Identify and troubleshoot machine, mold, resin/material, and process defects in real time.
- Assist with mold changes, machine setups, changeovers, and production startups as qualified.
- Coordinate directly with Maintenance and Quality personnel to resolve downtime or process deviations quickly.
Qualifications
- Required Experience: Direct experience working in a plastic injection molding or plastics processing environment.
- Leadership Background: Demonstrated experience as a Shift Lead, Floor Lead, Technician/Lead, or Production Supervisor in plastics manufacturing.
- Technical Knowledge: Solid understanding of injection molding operations, basic processing concepts, and visual part defects (sink, flash, short shots, warp, burn marks, etc.).
- Hands-On Approach: Comfortable spending 90%+ of your shift active on the manufacturing floor.
- Communication: Clear verbal and written communication. (Bilingual English/Spanish is a plus).
Preferred Qualifications:
- Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing, 5S, Kaizen, Root-Cause Analysis, or ISO standards.
- Basic setup experience or knowledge of scientific molding concepts.
