Job Description

The Control Systems Engineer designs, develops, integrates, and implements electronic control systems and wiring harnesses for custom-engineered mobile products. This role collaborates closely with engineering, manufacturing, and project teams to deliver reliable, efficient, and compliant mobile control solutions. You will work hands-on with both hardware and software in a dynamic, project-driven environment, contributing directly to product performance and quality.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop electronic control systems for custom-engineered mobile products, ensuring reliability, efficiency, and compliance with applicable standards.
• Create and interpret electrical schematics and layouts for control systems and wiring harnesses.
• Design wire harnesses and oversee their integration into mobile equipment and assemblies.
• Perform wiring and electrical integration activities, ensuring proper connections, routing, and documentation.
• Program control system software using languages such as Python, C++, MatLab, and Angel Script to support mobile control solutions.
• Develop and implement software for control systems, including configuration, testing, and optimization.
• Apply electrical engineering principles to digital and analog circuit design, including PCB and overall circuit design.
• Use tools such as AutoCAD to support schematic layout, wiring diagrams, and harness design documentation.
• Troubleshoot electrical and control system issues using test equipment and diagnostic methods, including work on a large test board to validate and refine new solutions.
• Collaborate with engineering, manufacturing, and project teams on the shop floor and in the office to ensure seamless integration of control systems into custom products.
• Support continuous improvement of control system design, documentation, and implementation processes.
• Ensure all control system designs and implementations are well-documented and ready for manufacturing and maintenance teams.

Essential Skills

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, preferably Electrical, Computer, or Mechanical Engineering.
• Hands-on experience with electrical engineering concepts and applications.
• Proficiency in schematic layout and electrical schematic design.
• Wire harness design experience for mobile or custom-engineered products.
• Ability to perform wiring and electrical integration tasks in a manufacturing environment.
• Software programming experience, including work on control systems.
• Proficiency in Python programming for engineering or control applications.
• Proficiency in C++ programming for embedded or control-related software.
• Experience using MatLab for analysis, modeling, or control system development.
• Experience with Angel Script or similar scripting languages for control or automation tasks.
• Strong knowledge of electrical design, including digital and analog circuits.
• Experience with PCB and circuit design for control or power electronics.
• Ability to troubleshoot electrical and control systems using systematic methods and test equipment.
• Experience using AutoCAD or similar tools for electrical and harness design.

Work Environment

This role is based in a modern manufacturing environment that combines hands-on floor work with focused office-based design and programming. The manufacturing area includes welding and fabrication operations, yet remains relatively clean and well organized. The truck assembly area is separate from the fabrication area, offering an even cleaner and quieter space where engineers can work on the floor close to the product. The manufacturing floor is well lit, with skylights that bring in natural light and create a bright, comfortable atmosphere. Office space is updated, clean, and designed for concentration, featuring high-walled cubicles that provide a quiet environment for design and programming tasks. Engineers also have access to a dedicated area with a large test board, used to troubleshoot and test new control system designs and wiring configurations. The overall environment supports collaboration between engineering and manufacturing while providing the tools and spaces needed for detailed design, programming, and testing work.

This is a Permanent position based out of Omaha, NE.

The pay range for this position is $70000.00 - $100000.00/yr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
