Job Description

This role supports a full-service concrete operation specializing in foundations, flatwork, and decorative concrete work. You will perform a variety of construction and general labor tasks, contribute to high-quality concrete projects, and work closely with a collaborative crew in both indoor and outdoor settings.

Responsibilities

• Perform general construction labor tasks to support concrete foundation, flatwork, and decorative concrete projects.
• Use hand tools and power tools safely and effectively for concrete and construction-related work.
• Assist with preparation, pouring, finishing, and clean-up activities on concrete job sites.
• Meet at the shop in Olathe at the start of each workday and carpool with the crew to varying jobsites.
• Work a full day from early morning start (around 6:00 a.m.) until project completion, typically between 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m.
• Participate in orientation on the first day to learn safety practices, procedures, and work expectations.
• Follow detailed instructions and project plans, including blueprints, to complete tasks accurately.
• Handle heavy lifting and sustained physical labor throughout the workday in both indoor and outdoor environments.
• Operate construction equipment when needed, such as forklifts, gradalls, or other lifts, if qualified.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area, adhering to OSHA guidelines and company safety standards.
• Collaborate with team members and leadership to ensure efficient workflow and high-quality project outcomes.

Essential Skills

• 1–2 years of previous experience in a construction general laborer role.
• Ability to perform heavy lifting and physically demanding labor tasks for extended periods.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions accurately.
• Experience using construction hand tools and power tools.
• Ability to read and work from blueprints.
• OSHA 10 certification or familiarity with OSHA safety standards.
• Concrete experience, including working with foundations, flatwork, or decorative concrete.
• Basic equipment operation experience in a construction setting.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience operating forklifts, gradalls, or other construction lifts (preferred but not required).
• Gyp-crete experience or exposure to similar concrete-related materials and processes.
• Comfort working in both indoor and outdoor environments and adapting to varying jobsite locations.
• Strong teamwork and communication skills to collaborate effectively with crew members and leadership.

Work Environment

The role takes place in a mixed indoor and outdoor construction environment, with approximately half of the work performed outdoors and half indoors. The workday typically starts around 6:00 a.m. and continues until the project is finished, usually between 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. Team members meet at the shop in Olathe each morning and carpool to various jobsites. You will work around concrete materials, construction equipment, hand tools, and power tools, following OSHA 10 safety practices and site procedures. Orientation is provided on the first day to introduce safety protocols, work expectations, and jobsite routines.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Olathe, KS.

The pay range for this position is $21.00 - $21.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
