Box Site Attendant/ Rover

The purpose of this job is to perform a wide range of custodial tasks of routine difficulty involving the disposal of solid waste materials, to provide professional customer service to staff and patrons. Will work under close supervision according to set procedures.

The functions listed below are those that represent the majority of the time spent working in this position. Management may assign additional functions related to the type of work of the position as necessary.

• Provides information to the public about separating recyclables and garbage and instructs them on proper placement of such materials.
• Compacts MSW continuously. Maintains call-in logs as required.
• Monitors containers to ensure adequate space for continued disposal and calls in waste and recyclable container volumes twice a day as required for scheduling the next day's collections.
• Checks containers routinely for improperly placed garbage and removes improperly placed garbage as needed.
• Directs traffic at busy sites.
• Provides professional and courteous customer service at all times to in-house staff and the general public either by telephone, electronically, or face-to-face.
• Maintains convenience center and surrounding area in a clean, orderly manner; picks up trash and debris as necessary; cleans drop pans and hoses down areas to eliminate spills and odors.
• Reports to work oftentimes with little advance notice.
• Sometimes required to work a double shift.
• Routinely works at any site in the county.
• Notifies supervisor of activities, violations, accidents, and hazards.
• Performs other duties and related work as instructed and assigned.
• Performs sedentary work that involves walking or standing some of the time and involves exerting up to 10 pounds of force on a regular and recurring basis.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:

Requires high school diploma, GED or specialized vocational training
