Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced Mechanical & Plumbing Estimator with a strong background in self-perform mechanical and plumbing trades. The ideal candidate will have experience estimating complex industrial, institutional, and healthcare projects, including projects valued at $25M+.
Key Requirements
10+ years of combined experience in mechanical estimating and project management.
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field preferred.
Proven experience preparing mechanical and plumbing estimates for $25M+ projects.
Strong knowledge of material takeoffs, labor pricing, scopes of work, contracts, job-cost accounting, and cost controls.
Experience with both hard-bid and negotiated projects, including estimates based on schematic design documents.
Ability to develop accurate estimates, establish project wage rates and general conditions, and meet strict bid deadlines.
Experience preparing subcontractor scopes, reviewing bids, negotiating pricing, and issuing subcontracts.
Strong leadership skills with the ability to lead estimating teams, assign responsibilities, set priorities, and coordinate with regional/project teams.
Knowledge of bonding, insurance, licensing, labor burdens, QA/QC, safety, and other project requirements.
Experience conducting bid kickoff meetings, coordinating pre-bid activities, and ensuring complete and accurate bid submissions.
Strong communication, organizational, analytical, and decision-making skills.
Stable work history with a demonstrated commitment to a career in construction.
Self-motivated and able to work independently in a deadline-driven environment.
Willingness to relocate based on project requirements.
Must pass a pre-employment drug screening.
Key Responsibilities
Lead and coordinate estimating activities from project review through bid submission.
Review drawings, specifications, RFPs, scopes, and other bid documents.
Manage estimating teams and coordinate responsibilities to ensure timely completion.
Review subcontractor proposals and scope sheets for accuracy and completeness.
Prepare and finalize bid forms, pricing, general conditions, and project cost information.
Coordinate project turnover from estimating to operations and finance.
Track potential projects, bid schedules, and estimating activities.
Support the recruitment, interviewing, training, and development of estimating personnel.
