Mission and impact
Machine reliability is production’s heartbeat. You will be the reliability champion for our ACME and Wickman multispindle screw machinespreventing failures before they start, fixing the ones that slip through, and ensuring every job runs to spec, safely and efficiently.
Key outcomes
- Uptime: Execute preventive and corrective maintenance that minimizes unplanned downtime.
- Firstpass quality: Set up and finetune machinescenter height, cams, gears, Reed thread roll headsto hit blueprint specifications.
- Throughput: Support changeovers, calculate feeds/RPMs, and validate geometry to keep schedules on track.
- Knowledge capture: Maintain detailed logs of maintenance, repairs, and parts usage to inform continuous improvement.
- Safety and care: Coach operators on safe operation and routine care; hold the line on company safety and quality standards.
Responsibilities
- Perform routine, preventive, and corrective maintenance on ACME, Wickman, and related multispindle screw machines.
- Troubleshoot mechanical issues, determine root causes, and complete timely repairs (major assemblies and minor components).
- Operate screw machines when needed to support production or verify repairs.
- Assist with setups, changeovers, adjustments, and finetuning across varied product runs.
- Inspect equipment for wear and potential failures; recommend component replacement or PM actions.
- Accurately document maintenance activities, repair work, and parts consumption.
- Contribute to PM programs and continuous improvement to elevate machine reliability.
- Support tooling changes, machine upgrades, and process improvement initiatives.
- Ensure all work complies with safety policies, procedures, and quality standards; own conformance to specification.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

Experience and skills Required
- High School diploma or GED.
- At least 5 years of ACME or Wickman multispindle screw machine setup, operation, maintenance, and repair.
- Manufacturing maintenance experience with strong troubleshooting aptitude.
- Proficiency with cams, gears, center height, Reed thread rolling heads, and machine tooling setups.
- Ability to calculate feed rates, RPMs, and geometry; sharpen and maintain production tooling including cutoff blades.
- Ability to read blueprints and mechanical drawings; familiarity with tooling documentation and engineering specs.
- Competent with micrometers, calipers, indicators, and thread gauges.
- Knowledge of metals, alloys, machining principles, and manufacturing processes.
- Analytical problem solver; detailoriented; strong communicator; collaborative working style.
- Independent, organized, and able to manage priorities in a fastmoving production environment.
Preferred
- Experience building and executing preventive maintenance programs.
Physical and schedule demands
- Lift, climb, bend, stoop, push, and pull with continuous standing/walking.
- Moderate effortfrequent 10–50 lbs; continuous lighter weights.
- Hot, dusty, and noisy work areas are common.
- Required overtime and some weekends based on sales demand.
