About the Role:

As a full-time Embalmer, you will play a critical role in preparing deceased individuals for viewing, burial, or cremation, ensuring that each person is treated with dignity and respect throughout the process. Your expertise will be essential in preserving the body through embalming techniques, restoring a natural appearance, and maintaining sanitary conditions. You will collaborate closely with funeral directors and families to meet specific requests and cultural or religious requirements. This role demands meticulous attention to detail, compassion, and adherence to health and safety regulations. Ultimately, your work will provide comfort to grieving families by helping to create a peaceful and respectful farewell experience.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Valid embalmer license or certification as required by the state of employment.
• Completion of an accredited embalming program or mortuary science degree.
• Demonstrated knowledge of embalming techniques, restorative art, and relevant health and safety regulations.
• Ability to handle sensitive situations with professionalism, empathy, and discretion.
• Physical ability to perform embalming tasks, including lifting and standing for extended periods.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience working in a funeral home or mortuary setting.
• Certification in restorative art or advanced embalming techniques.
• Familiarity with diverse cultural and religious funeral practices.
• Strong communication skills to effectively interact with grieving families and team members.
• Training in occupational safety and hazardous materials handling.

Responsibilities:

• Perform embalming procedures to preserve and sanitize deceased bodies according to established protocols and legal requirements.
• Restore the natural appearance of the deceased through restorative art techniques, including cosmetic application and hair styling.
• Prepare bodies for viewing, including dressing, casketing, and positioning, ensuring a dignified presentation.
• Maintain and operate embalming equipment and ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations.
• Collaborate with funeral directors and families to accommodate specific cultural, religious, or personal preferences.
• Document embalming procedures and maintain accurate records in compliance with state and federal laws.
• Manage inventory of embalming supplies and ensure proper storage and disposal of chemicals and biological materials.
