We are seeking a dependable and detail-oriented Part-Time Housekeeper who takes pride in their work and has a heart for serving older adults. The right person will understand the importance of consistency, diligently follow an established room-cleaning schedule, and treat every resident’s apartment with the same care and respect they would give their own home.
Previous experience working with older adults, particularly in assisted living, memory care, senior living, or a healthcare setting, is strongly preferred.
What You’ll Do
- Follow the community’s established cleaning schedule to ensure resident apartments and assigned areas are cleaned thoroughly and on time.
- Clean resident apartments, common areas, hallways, lobbies, lounges, restrooms, corridors, and other assigned spaces according to community health and cleanliness standards.
- Clean and maintain furniture, rugs, carpets, fixtures, draperies, equipment, and other items using appropriate housekeeping tools and equipment.
- Sweep, mop, scrub, wax, and polish floors as assigned.
- Clean and disinfect wash basins, toilets, bathtubs, showers, mirrors, and other bathroom surfaces daily.
- Empty wastebaskets and transport waste to designated disposal areas.
- Wash resident beds and mattresses, launder and replace linens, and remake beds as needed.
- Distribute and replenish linens, bathroom items, and other supplies.
- Inspect vacant apartments daily to ensure they remain clean, fresh, and ready for occupancy.
- Keep housekeeping utility and storage rooms clean, organized, and properly stocked.
- Use cleaning products, disinfectants, and equipment safely and according to established instructions.
- Report maintenance concerns immediately, including leaking faucets or toilets, loose tiles, broken windows, damaged beds, or missing hardware.
- Protect residents’ privacy, belongings, dignity, and personal space at all times.
- Communicate respectfully and patiently with residents, including individuals living with dementia.
- Follow all safety, infection-control, and community policies and procedures.
- Assist with other duties as assigned.

- Has experience working with older adults and demonstrates patience, kindness, and respect.
- Notices details and takes personal responsibility for the quality of their work.
- Is approachable, calm, professional, and able to listen well.
- Manages time effectively and prioritizes assigned responsibilities.
- Works well independently while also contributing to a positive team environment.
- Remains composed when routines change or unexpected needs arise.
- Treats residents, families, visitors, and coworkers with dignity and professionalism.
- Has a genuine passion for helping older adults live in a clean, comfortable, and enriching environment.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Ability to read and understand cleaning-product instructions, infection-control and laundry directions, safety rules, operating procedures, policies, and employee manuals.
- Ability to complete 12 hours of continuing education annually.
- Fluency in English is required.
- Availability for scheduled weekend and holiday coverage and occasional on-call needs.
- Ability to perform the essential responsibilities of the position with or without reasonable accommodation.
Physical Requirements
This position frequently requires standing, walking, bending, and stooping. The employee must be able to regularly lift or move up to 100 pounds with or without reasonable accommodation. The work environment generally has a moderate noise level.
