Manufacturing Quality Manager

Job Description

The Quality Manager leads the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of quality assurance and quality control systems across the organization. This role focuses on optimizing processes to reduce operating costs by improving product quality, minimizing defective parts, reducing process errors and inefficiencies, and lowering warranty costs. The Quality Manager supports the definition and refinement of manufacturing processes to minimize costs and lead times while maintaining specified quality levels and ensuring safe, repeatable, and compliant manufacturing methods.

Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and lead quality assurance and quality control systems with a strong focus on continual improvement and optimization.
• Drive reduction of operating costs by improving product quality, reducing defective parts, and minimizing process errors, inefficiencies, and warranty-related issues.
• Ensure safe, repeatable manufacturing methods are implemented and maintained in alignment with quality and safety policies.
• Maintain ISO 9001 and other relevant certifications, ensuring ongoing compliance with applicable standards and regulations.
• Lead internal and external quality audits, including planning, execution, reporting, and follow-up on corrective and preventive actions to achieve continuous improvement.
• Drive performance improvement through proactive reviews, observations, and data-driven analysis of quality metrics.
• Maintain local process and document control in accordance with global quality policies and procedures.
• Develop and implement process controls and deliver process improvements through structured process reviews and FMEA (Failure Mode and Effects Analysis) management.
• Oversee product certification processes to ensure products meet applicable regulatory and industry standards.
• Collaborate with peers and cross-functional teams to provide local support for global quality missions and objectives.
• Manage reporting of key performance indicators (KPIs) and monthly quality data to global service leadership, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
• Identify, plan, and deliver improvement activities, acting as a champion for quality and process improvement projects.
• Manage quality issues from identification through effective closure, ensuring root cause analysis and robust corrective and preventive actions.
• Represent the company to customers regarding quality or reliability issues when needed, providing clear communication and resolution.
• Host customer visits and audits, ensuring a professional experience and transparent communication about quality systems and performance.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in quality management within a manufacturing environment.
• Hands-on experience with ISO 9001 standards, including maintaining certifications and ensuring compliance.
• Demonstrated ability to lead and conduct internal and external quality audits.
• Experience with supplier quality management and audit activities.
• Experience managing issues from identification through closure, including root cause analysis and corrective/preventive actions.
• Strong communication skills for representing the company to customers on quality and reliability matters and hosting customer audits.
• Experience in manufacturing process optimization to reduce costs and lead times while maintaining quality.
• Familiarity with FMEA (Failure Mode and Effects Analysis) and other structured problem-solving methodologies.
• Track record of championing continuous improvement and leading quality or process improvement projects.
• Ability to provide a strong customer-focused perspective and integrate customer feedback into quality and manufacturing processes.

Work Environment

The company operates as a small, close-knit organization of roughly 40 employees, with a production team of about 25 people. The role is based in a manufacturing setting, working closely with production and quality teams. Standard work hours are on first shift, either 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM.

This is a Permanent position based out of Shakopee, MN.

The pay range for this position is $92000.00 - $100000.00/yr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
