POSITION: Contractor Sales and Project Management DATE: Sept 2026
Summary overview of the position’s responsibility.
· Outside/inside Retail Sales and Residential Builders, with an “easy to business” mentality.
· Increase Sales through attracting new contractor sales or growing existing business, analyzing prints, providing quotes and closing project sales at company targeted margins.
· Produce accurate & timely project documents (I.e., Quotes, SO / PO), maintain client file history.
· Manage/coordinate timely, accurate procurement activities, negotiating company’s position.
· Keep business and scheduling abreast of supplier developments/shortfalls to complete projects.
· Insure procedure adherence within all disciplines, with high level of integrity.
· Assist in new product development, supplier resolutions, and negotiating company’s position.
· Overseeing project’s timely and accurate Shipping and Receiving activities.
· Coordinate inventory activities including physical inventories of stored products.
· Collaborate with technical resources for assistance as required within company capabilities.
· Eagerness in gaining more knowledge, staying abreast of products/applications in the industry.
· Always work with an entrepreneurial spirit and support special projects as requested.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include but not limited to:
Position Responsibilities
· Build internal/external relationships at all levels, pursuing new opportunities when they arise.
· Take incoming phone calls and email orders; upsell/cross-sell products & services.
· Engage with customers, colleagues, and sales professionals with positive energy.
· Complete project site visits to validate quotes and updating Sales Order changes
· Support contractor market segment for pickups and inquiries, as required.
· Make product/service recommendations and establish reasonable expectations to clients.
· Participate in the development of ideal product/service specifications for sales projects, including alternative materials.
· Track/manage project inventory, maintain product supplies, and procured materials.
· Maintain accurate records of goods ordered, delivery schedule and receipt. Coordinate with business for inaccuracies and approvals for payment.
· Work within budgets and warehouse stock levels, including managing inventory, and annual physical inventories when requested.
· Produce professional quotes for requested projects, including project changes.
· Review purchase order claims and contracts for conformance to company policy.
· Participate in vendor grievances and claims for supplier resolution.
· Represent company’s position in negotiating quotes, contracts, and formulating policies with suppliers.
· Coordinate with personnel engaged in buying, warehousing, selling, and distributing materials.

POSITION SKILLS
Education and/or Experience
· Bachelor’s degree. Substitute HS or Associates degree, with 5+ years of relatable experience.
· 5 years of building supply sales experience. Specific expert knowledge of doors, windows, and mouldings preferred to assist the local residential contractor segment.
· High energy with sales personality and a natural sales approach.
· Operations experience a plus.
· Ability to work in a fast-paced center, with flexibility in meeting customer expectations.
· Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with pleasant telephone manner.
Computer Skills
Strong computer skills and familiarity with smart phone, notebook, and desktop computers, along with working with a network drive filing system, centralizing all Project (Sales and Purchasing) documentation. Proficient with most Microsoft software systems (Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint), and QuickBooks software. Ability to work with supply based, quoting programs and have a solid math aptitude, understanding discounts, margins, percentages.
Language and Communication Skills
Ability to read and comprehend blue-prints, drawings, correspondence, warranties, legal contractual language, memos, and unit labels. Ability to generate professional SO/PO with appropriate detail and easy to understand quotes with visual expectations for required audience. Effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, suppliers, and management, always working toward win–win resolutions. Keep business abreast of daily supplier and customer developments.

Must be a team player and exhibit a strong desire to learn and promote self-growth. Must be pro-active, transparent, self-motivated, and have a demonstrated ability to follow assignments through to completion. Attention to detail is essential and required. Must display a high level of integrity, developing trust, respect, and confidence of customers, co-workers, and management. Must present self in a clean and neat physical appearance.
Reasoning Abilities
Ability to apply commonsense understanding and utilize negotiation skills to carry out detailed orders or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving few concrete variables in standardized situations. Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical, diagram form or blue-print and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
Mathematical Skills
Ability to work with a tape measure and fractions. Be proficient is basic mathematics / algebra. Perform calculations using units of money, discounts, margins, time, measurement, etc. Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as proportions, percentages, area, length, width, height, and depth.
Physical Demands
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. Drive to/from customer or supplier locations. The employee is occasionally required to sit, stoop, crawl, climb, balance, or crouch. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds using proper lifting techniques. Occasionally, the employee will have to lift more than 40 lbs. with assistance.
Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. Repetitive body motions may be required. The employee may be required to perform tasks above single-story homes. Time commitment required of this position will vary with the seasons. Saturday work is required twice a month.
Work Environment
Work environment with this job includes company office space, warehousing storage, and machine facilities. The noise level of this job is typically low to moderate with some louder areas (i.e., operating power cutting/sanding equipment). Temperatures fluctuates with typical northern climate seasonality.
