About This Role

Responsible for maintaining a joy-filled, faith-integrated environment where children feel safe to explore the world around them through STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math) learning and play, the Toddler Teacher ensures a safe and nurturing classroom environment for infants and toddlers. While the Toddler Teacher maintains a structured, developmentally appropriate classroom, the Toddler Teacher must also prioritize building healthy, loving relationships with their students, seek to understand each child’s strengths and needs through observation and assessment, be skilled in communicating with parents to collaboratively meet children’s needs and manage the day-to-day operational activities of the classroom in alignment with the principles of The Net Learning Lab and The Net International Church.

This position reports to the Center Director.



What You'll Do

Design:

  • Design and maintain a child-centered classroom environment that promotes hands-on exploration and problem-solving through play
  • Create routines that build trust, autonomy and independence
  • Plan and coordinate activities to encourage social, cognitive, physical, and emotional growth
  • Establish and model classroom norms and age and developmentally appropriate expectations

Build:

  • Introduce God’s love through age-appropriate stories, songs, prayer, and spiritual modeling.
  • Integrate biblical truths into routines, conversations, and learning experiences
  • Maintain ongoing assessment of children through assessment, observation and documentation
  • Supervise children closely during all routines, transitions, and activities
  • Treat every child and family with dignity and respect.
  • Uphold all center policies and state regulations.
  • Uphold confidentiality, ethical conduct, punctuality, reliability, and the mission of The Net Learning Lab.
  • Maintain a professional development plan and complete required annual training

Collaborate:

Work with co-teachers and center staff to create a culture that:

  • Maintains communication with parents through discussions, progress reports, and parent-teacher conferences.
  • Maintains accurate records, forms and files.
  • Collaborates with parents to support their child's growth and development


Requirements

  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Hold a high school diploma, General Education Development Certificate (GED), or an equivalent state-recognized certificate
  • High energy and the ability to work well with others (staff, children, and parents) to foster an emotionally healthy environment
  • Meet all South Carolina Department of Social Services (SCDSS) requirements, including a full background check, TB test, Infant/Child CPR/First Aid certification and completion of 15 hours of health and safety training within the first 30 days of employment

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to lift, carry, or hold children weighing up to 40 pounds
  • Frequent bending, stooping, squatting, kneeling and engaging in floor play
  • Maintain stamina for a fast-paced early childhood environment


Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience in a professional child care setting is preferred.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills and basic computer skills.
  • Strong understanding of child development, SC Early Learning Standards, and developmentally appropriate practice.
  • Understanding of play as the primary pathway to learning
  • Excellent leadership, organizational, and interpersonal skills
  • Infant/Child CPR and First Aid certification
  • An associate degree in Early Childhood Education (ECE) or a related field of study with a minimum of 30 credits in ECE, is preferred but not required
