Substance Use Counselor

Responsibilities:

• Provides clinical services in accordance with all core functions of a substance use disorder professional, including assessment, treatment planning, counseling, case management, crisis intervention, client education, referral, record keeping, consultation, and relapse prevention services.
• Facilitates Intensive Outpatient Program sessions at Gateway Healthcare and/or VICTA as part of Certified Community Behavioral Health Center/Designated Collaborating Organization model.
• Maintains caseload of individual clients participating in SUD services at VICTA.
• Conducts individual, group, and/or family counseling as appropriate for population served.
• Manages caseload to ensure appropriate frequency of contact, re-engage individuals who have missed appointments, and adherence to regulatory requirements.
• Actively participates as part of a multidisciplinary team to coordinate individualized recovery plans and interventions.
• Makes referrals for additional services and coordinates with external stakeholders to support individual recovery goals and whole-person health.
• Engages effectively with clients across the stages of change, offering tailored interventions including harm reduction, motivational interviewing, and a 'many pathways' approach to recovery.
• Participates in continuing education to remain knowledgeable in existing and emerging best practices in treating individuals with SUD.

VICTA is a one-stop shop for comprehensive care in an outpatient clinic setting. A continuum of substance use, mental health, and medical treatment services is offered in our therapeutic environment. These services are designed and implemented on an individualized basis to support the recovery, health, and overall wellbeing of all persons served. We believe that an integrated approach to treatment is the most effective way to enhance the quality of life of the person(s) served, to reduce symptoms and build resilience, to restore and/or improve functioning, and to support our community members in achieving their full potential.
