Position Description:

The RHC Physician Assistant (PA) is a medically trained professional who provides primary and specialty healthcare services in underserved rural areas. Their duties include diagnosing illnesses, prescribing medications, performing procedures, and educating patients about preventive care. Rural PAs play a crucial role in addressing healthcare shortages and improving access to medical services for rural communities.

Requirements:

Responsibilities:

  • The Physician Assistant (PA-C) provides comprehensive primary healthcare services to patients within the Rural Health Clinic (RHC) under the supervision and collaboration of a licensed physicianin accordance withstate laws, organizational policies, and Rural Health Clinic regulations.
  • Conduct thorough patient assessments and physical examinations.
  • Diagnose and treat a variety of medical conditions under physician supervision.
  • Provide patient education on health management and preventive care.
  • Assistin minor procedures and wound care.
  • Collaborate with healthcare team members to ensure comprehensive patient care.
  • Maintainaccuratemedical records and documentation for all patient interactions.
  • Develop and implement individualized treatment plans.
  • Order, interpret, and evaluate diagnostic tests and laboratory results.
  • Prescribe medications and treatmentsin accordance withstate regulations and scope of practice.
  • Provide follow-up care andmonitorpatient progress.
  • Perform minor office procedures aspermittedby training and licensure.
  • Respond appropriately to medical emergencies within the clinic setting.

Qualifications:

Professional Requirements:

  • Master's degree from an accredited PA program along with NCCPA certification and state licensure.
  • Competency with electronic health records, point-of-care testing devices, and telemedicine platforms is highly valuable.
  • Outstanding interpersonal skills, adaptability, and resourcefulnessallowingthe ability tothrive when working with limited resources and diverse patient populations. These abilities ensure you can provide high-quality, independent care in rural settings where healthcare providers and support can be limited.
