Immediate opening for a Quality Control Inspector in Irvine, CA who possesses:

  • Extensive hands-on experience with IPC-A-610 and IPC-A-620 standards
  • Experience using quality inspection tools including calipers, micrometers, and electrical measurement equipment
  • Ability to read and interpret schematics, engineering drawings, assembly drawings, and related technical documentation
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to work independently in a fast-paced manufacturing environment

FULL DESCRIPTION:We are seeking a Quality Control Inspector to perform visual, dimensional, mechanical, and electrical inspections of incoming, in-process, final, RMA, and shipping-stage products in a Defense/Aerospace manufacturing environment. This role is responsible for inspecting electronic and mechanical components and assemblies, completing First Article Inspections, documenting inspection results, generating quality records, and communicating potential quality or schedule issues to Project Management and Quality Assurance. The ideal candidate will have strong IPC standards knowledge, experience using precision inspection tools, and the ability to accurately interpret engineering drawings, schematics, BOMs, and assembly documentation.

The selected candidate will be responsible for:

  • Performing visual and dimensional inspections of incoming, in-process, final, RMA, and shipping-stage products
  • Inspecting sheet metal components, PCBAs, CCAs, printed circuit boards, conformal coatings, labels, markings, cables, harnesses, COTS items, and related products
  • Performing First Article Inspections as required
  • Preparing First Article Inspection Reports and related quality documentation
  • Testing and verifying products for mechanical and electrical functional performance
  • Supporting verification of applicable material, chemical, or product characteristics as required
  • Using calipers, micrometers, electrical measurement tools, and other inspection equipment
  • Reviewing products for conformance to engineering drawings, specifications, workmanship standards, and customer requirements
  • Recording inspection findings accurately
  • Generating Non-Conforming Material Reports, Document Change Requests, Engineering Review Requests, and related documentation as needed
  • Identifying nonconforming material and escalating quality issues appropriately
  • Communicating with Project Managers and Quality Assurance regarding potential delays, urgent jobs, quality concerns, and required resolutions
  • Supporting product and process quality throughout manufacturing operations
  • Maintaining accurate inspection and quality records
  • Following applicable inspection procedures, quality standards, and workmanship requirements
  • Performing other quality inspection duties as assigned

The selected candidate will also possess:

  • Extensive working knowledge of IPC-A-610 and IPC-A-620 required
  • Working knowledge of IPC-A-600 and J-STD-001 preferred
  • Current or prior IPC training and/or certification preferred
  • Experience inspecting electronic assemblies, PCBAs, CCAs, PCBs, cables, harnesses, and related products preferred
  • Experience performing visual and dimensional inspection required
  • Experience using calipers, micrometers, and other mechanical measurement tools required
  • Experience using electrical measurement tools required
  • Ability to read, comprehend, and interpret electrical schematics required
  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical and assembly drawings required
  • Ability to read and interpret BOMs, assembly instructions, engineering documentation, and related technical records required
  • Ability to apply basic algebra and geometry concepts including decimals, fractions, percentages, proportions, length, area, circumference, and volume
  • Ability to work with management and engineering personnel to determine applicable quality and reliability requirements
  • Strong computer skills required
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel preferred
  • Experience with Adobe PDF, Outlook, and database-based systems preferred
  • Strong attention to detail required
  • Dedicated and self-motivated work style required
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision required
  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
  • Strong teamwork and collaboration skills required
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills required
  • Ability to work onsite in Irvine, CA

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to sit and/or stand for extended periods while performing inspection and quality activities
  • Ability to use hands and fingers for measurement, inspection, testing, computer use, documentation, and handling small components
  • Ability to visually inspect small electronic and mechanical components, assemblies, markings, coatings, cables, harnesses, and finished products
  • Ability to use calipers, micrometers, electrical measurement tools, and related inspection equipment accurately
  • Ability to review engineering drawings, schematics, BOMs, assembly instructions, specifications, and computer screens for extended periods
  • Ability to bend, reach, grasp, and move throughout inspection, production, and manufacturing areas as needed
  • Ability to handle and move parts, assemblies, inspection equipment, and related materials as required
  • Ability to work around electronic components, production equipment, tools, and manufacturing activity
  • Ability to wear required PPE and follow all applicable quality, manufacturing, ESD, and safety procedures
  • Ability to maintain accuracy, focus, and attention to detail while completing repetitive inspection activities

Salary Range: $29 to $33/hour
