Job Title: Machine Operator


Shift: 24-7 facility shifts include 7am-7pm or 7pm-7am | 4X12 schedule 1 week, 3X12 schedule the following. So, 48 hours a week and 36 the following

Night shift will have a $1.25 hr. shift differential

Notes:

  • Hiring 7 additional Machine Operators to support the paper machines.
  • Facility operates 24 hours/day.
  • Team size: approximately 10 employees per crew.

Schedule / Shifts

  • 12-hour shifts:
  • Day: 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM
  • Night: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM
  • Monday–Thursday schedule, with alternating weeks:
    • 36 hours one week / 48 hours the following week
  • Overtime eligible after 40 hours.
  • Night-shift candidates will train on the day shift initially
  • Training is expected to last a few weeks to approximately one month.

Machine / Measurement Skills

  • Candidates will be working with paper machines.
  • Paper machine measurements can involve working with 112-inch measurements and slitting to add 5/8-inch measurements.
  • Candidates need to be comfortable reading a ruler/measuring tape and understanding basic measurements.
  • Strong attention to detail and spatial awareness are important.

Safety

  • Looking for candidates who are safety-minded and can speak to previous safety practices/measures.
  • They want someone with good situational awareness who will recognize an issue and act.
  • Example: If a wheel is not properly aligned, the employee should notice it, speak up, and make the necessary corrections or notify the appropriate person.

PPE

  • Safety shoes required (composite or steel toe). $120 reimbursement/credit toward purchasing new safety shoes.
  • Company provides: Ear plugs & Safety glasses

Computer Skills

  • Basic computer skills required.
  • Employees will need to perform data entry/input.

Looking for candidates with:

  • Machine operation or manufacturing experience
  • Strong safety awareness
  • Ability to read a ruler/measuring tape
  • Basic computer/data-entry skills
  • Good attention to detail
  • Strong situational awareness
  • Willingness to speak up and address safety or equipment concerns
  • Ability to work a 12-hour schedule and rotating 36/48-hour schedule
  • Flexibility to train on days before transitioning to nights, if applicable


Job Duties:

  • Set up and operate coating, slitting, metalizing, or sheeting machines.
  • Load rolls of paper onto the machines.
  • Set up machines within established tolerance levels.
  • Monitor and make all necessary machine adjustments.
  • Operate overhead hoists, trucks, and dollies to transport materials.
  • Work from production schedules, work orders, specification sheets, checklists, and verbal instructions to meet required production quantities and quality standards.
  • Monitor product quality throughout the process.
  • Monitor equipment condition and ensure all process control devices are properly functioning.
  • Conduct product tests to confirm compliance with established specifications.
  • Identify malfunctions, process problems, and unusual conditions, and report them to the Supervisor.
  • Actively participate in analysis and troubleshooting to resolve problems.
  • Clean machines and work areas according to established specifications.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Position Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds, supported.
  • Ability to use judgment to plan and perform set-ups and operations within standard procedures.
  • Forklift operation experience preferred.
  • Proficient in reading and understanding English.
  • Ability to read and comprehend safety policies and basic product/process documentation.
  • Proficient in basic math, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, decimals, fractions, and simple use of formulas and reference materials.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
  • Experience with 5S workplace organization preferred.
