Field Service Technician – Direct Load Control

Pay: $24/hourTravel: Up to 95%Schedule: Full-time; occasional weekend travel and on-call rotation requiredEducation: High School Diploma or equivalent

Position Overview

We are seeking a Field Service Technician to support residential energy programs through the installation, inspection, modification, removal, and service of Direct Load Control (DLC) devices.

This is a hands-on field position that is ideal for someone with basic HVAC, electrical, mechanical, construction, or technical experience who enjoys working independently and interacting with customers. Extensive travel is required, and candidates must be comfortable traveling to different job sites as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Install, inspect, modify, remove, and service Direct Load Control devices
  • Troubleshoot basic electrical, mechanical, HVAC, and equipment-related issues
  • Demonstrate a basic understanding of residential air conditioning systems
  • Use hand tools and equipment safely and effectively
  • Follow safety procedures, customer requirements, and quality standards
  • Provide professional and courteous customer service while working in residential settings
  • Complete required documentation, data entry, inventory counts, and service reports
  • Perform routine vehicle safety inspections and help maintain assigned fleet vehicles
  • Assist with warehouse organization, inventory, and equipment storage
  • Participate in an after-hours on-call rotation
  • Travel to job sites, including occasional weekend travel, based on customer and project needs
  • Work independently while also collaborating with a field team
  • Complete additional projects and duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • 1–3 years of experience in one or more of the following areas preferred:
    • HVAC
    • Basic electrical wiring
    • Lighting
    • Controls
    • Mechanical systems
    • Construction
    • Building maintenance
    • Home inspection
    • Weatherization
    • Renewable energy
  • Basic mechanical and technical aptitude
  • Comfortable using hand tools and performing hands-on work
  • Basic understanding of HVAC or residential building systems
  • Strong customer service and communication skills
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment with a variety of responsibilities
  • Self-motivated, organized, and able to work independently with limited supervision
  • Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to complete accurate documentation
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation
  • Willingness to travel up to 95%
