What You'll Do

As a Rigger, you'll be responsible for safely moving, lifting, positioning, and securing critical ship components ranging from piping and machinery to large structural assemblies. You'll work with cranes, chain hoists, wire rope systems, and specialized rigging equipment to support ship construction and maintenance operations.

Responsibilities include:

• Rigging, lifting, and positioning heavy equipment and ship components
• Calculating load weights, center of gravity, and lift requirements
• Operating chain hoists, slings, shackles, and wire rope systems
• Performing crane-assisted lifts and complex rigging operations
• Erecting, maintaining, and dismantling scaffolding
• Supporting shipyard operations in confined spaces and elevated work areas
• Following OSHA and shipyard safety requirements at all times
• Assisting with ventilation equipment installation and other shipboard support functions

Required Qualifications

• U.S. Citizen
• High School Diploma or GED
• 2 to 5 years of heavy rigging experience
• Experience working in shipyards, industrial facilities, construction, or heavy manufacturing environments
• Ability to read and follow rigging procedures and safety requirements
• Strong understanding of:
• • Chain hoists (1-ton to 40-ton capacity)
  • Wire rope lashing and securing methods
  • Rigging knots, splicing, reeving, and seizing
  • Load calculations and center-of-gravity principles
  • Crane rigging operations
  • OSHA regulations related to industrial or shipbuilding environments

Physical Requirements

This is a highly active role requiring candidates to:

• Work at heights and in confined spaces
• Climb ladders and ship structures
• Kneel, squat, crawl, bend, and stoop
• Lift up to 40 lbs.
• Pass a respirator fit test
• Pass a Physical Agility Test
• Work assigned shifts based on production needs
