Metal Slitting Line Operator – Southington

What you’ll do
- Set up and run the metal slitting line to meet job tickets and production schedules.
- Thread master coils; set knives, spacers, guides, and tension to achieve accurate cuts.
- Monitor equipment performance and fine-tune settings to sustain quality and efficiency.
- Inspect output for width, thickness, edge quality, burrs, camber, and surface condition.
- Complete coil changeovers; package, band, wrap, and label finished coils correctly.
- Record production counts, scrap, downtime, and quality checks.
- Perform routine cleaning, lubrication, and basic maintenance tasks.
- Follow all safety procedures, including Lockout/Tagout and PPE requirements.
- Maintain a clean, orderly work area and support continuous improvement efforts.
- Collaborate closely with production, quality, maintenance, and shipping teams to meet customer expectations.
What you bring
- High school diploma or GED preferred.
- 2+ years operating a metal slitter or comparable manufacturing machinery preferred.
- Ability to read work orders, blueprints, and production specifications.
- Skill with tape measures, calipers, micrometers, and other precision gauges.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting ability.
- Capability to lift up to 50 lbs and work in a physically demanding environment.
- Attention to detail, reliability, and a strong commitment to safety.
Schedule
- Training: Must be able to train on first shift and be flexible to move to second shift.
- First shift: 6:00 AM–2:15 PM Mon–Thu; 6:00 AM–12:00 PM Fri
- Second shift: 2:15 PM–10:30 PM Mon–Thu; 12:00 PM–6:00 PM Fri
