Our client seeks a Vice President, Application Support Engineer to provide Level 2 production support and Level 3 development support for a Depositary Receipts platform. The role requires strong SQL and Java skills, with the ability to troubleshoot across application, database, and infrastructure layers. The engineer will participate in on-call rotation, resolve incidents, drive root cause analysis, and contribute to enhancements and automation. Experience with cloud monitoring, Splunk, Python scripting, and AI-assisted development tools such as GitHub Copilot is preferred. Two shift options are available: 7:00 AM - 4:00 PM or 12:00 PM - 8:00 PM. The team values proactive collaboration and continuous improvement in support processes.

This is a contract to hire opportunity. Applicants must be willing and able to work on a w2 basis and convert to FTE following contract duration. Responsibilities:
  • Provide Level 2 production support and Level 3 development support for Java-based applications.
  • Diagnose and resolve incidents, perform root cause analysis, and implement permanent fixes.
  • Monitor application and database performance, identify bottlenecks, and execute maintenance tasks.
  • Collaborate with development, infrastructure, and stakeholder teams to resolve complex issues.
  • Create and maintain runbooks, troubleshooting guides, and incident documentation.
  • Leverage SQL to write complex queries, analyze data, and troubleshoot issues across systems.
  • Use monitoring and troubleshooting tools including cloud monitoring platforms and Splunk.
  • Contribute to code fixes and enhancements in Java and support new development as needed.
  • Automate repetitive tasks using scripting, preferably Python and shell.
  • Participate in an on-call rotation and support a production environment.
  • Drive continuous improvement of operational support and customer experience.
  • Apply DevOps and SRE practices for reliability, scalability, performance, and security.
  • Understand end-to-end application and data flows across integrated systems.
  • Engage with AI-assisted development tools such as GitHub Copilot to improve efficiency.
Experience Requirements:
  • 8-10 years of related experience, preferably in financial services.
  • Strong SQL expertise including performance tuning, deadlock analysis, and execution plans in SQL Server.
  • Hands-on Java experience with ability to read, debug, and enhance code.
  • Experience with monitoring tools including Splunk and cloud monitoring platforms.
  • Familiarity with Angular, Kafka, and CI/CD, plus tools such as AWS, S3, Ansible, Docker, Linux, Azure, AppDynamics.
  • Proficiency with Agile, DevOps, and Site Reliability Engineering concepts.
  • Experience with Unix/Linux, shell scripting, job scheduling, and application servers such as Tomcat.
  • Analytical problem-solving skills with meticulous attention to logs, code, and database metrics.
  • Effective written and verbal communication with cross-functional teams.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing priorities and technologies.
  • Interest in AI tools and configuration of AI agents, including prompts for Copilot.
Education Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related discipline, or equivalent work experience. Advanced degree preferred.
