Manufacturing Design Engineer
We are seeking a detail-oriented Design Engineer with strong SolidWorks experience to support the design and development of mechanical equipment and components. This role is a great fit for someone with a background in machine design, mechanical drafting, and manufacturing who enjoys working on detailed drawings, large assemblies, and improving designs for production.
Requirements of the Manufacturing Design Engineer
- Associate’s degree in Mechanical Design, Engineering, or a related field required; Bachelor’s degree preferred
- Strong proficiency with SolidWorks, including large assemblies and detailed drawings
- Experience with SolidWorks PDM preferred
- Previous experience in mechanical drafting, machine design, manufacturing, or a related field
- Strong understanding of welding and weldment drawings
- Knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T) preferred
- Experience reading and creating machine drawings, diagrams, and mechanical designs
- Understanding of dimensions, tolerances, and tolerance stack-ups
Responsibilities of the Manufacturing Design Engineer
- Create and modify detailed mechanical drawings, designs, and bills of materials using SolidWorks
- Prepare diagrams and drawings for mechanical equipment and machines
- Manage engineering change orders (ECOs) and communicate updates with Sales
- Review designs and recommend changes to improve manufacturability and reduce production issues
- Develop and maintain item masters, bills of materials, and routing information within the ERP system
- Maintain and manage engineering data through the PDM system
- Work closely with manufacturing to understand capabilities and ensure designs can be produced efficiently
- Apply GD&T, dimensional requirements, and tolerance stack-ups to mechanical designs
- Learn and apply ASME requirements and pressure vessel calculations using Codeware
- Coordinate with team members on complex designs and projects
- Communicate project status, drawing completion, and workload updates in a timely manner
Full-Time, DIRECT HIRE
Pay is $75,000 - $80,000 annually, based on experience
