A Driver at UMS is an entry level position that requires no previous professional experience, but does require one to have held
a valid driver’s license for at least three years. Successful Drivers at UMS are dedicated individuals who show up for work
every day on time and thrive on working independently. Driver positions at UMS occupy every facility and work across
multiple shifts. UMS Drivers are responsible for the safe transport of the mail inside of the vehicle they are assigned to. UMS
driving personnel reports directly to their Route Department Supervisor/Manager or Shift Production managers.

? Production:
? Ability to acknowledge all UMS policies and become familiar with them, including but not limited to:
? Attendance/Punctuality policies

? Ability to follow supervisor’s directions to accomplish the ultimate goal of each work day.
? This goal is to service our customers accurately and efficiently by getting the mail processed and to the USPS in a
timely manner.
? Ability to work independently and adapt if normal daily routine of production is disrupted.
? Accurately navigate assigned route(s)
? Completing route(s) in the most time efficient manner that will deliver the mail safely back to the local UMS
facility for processing.
? Pick up mail from customers in a timely, courteous, and professional manner
? Report back at facility all requests and concerns made by customers each day
? Represent them self and United Mailing Services, Inc. on a daily basis to customers by providing quality and
courteous customer service
? Load and unload UMS vehicles in a timely and safe manner
? Some UMS routes have heavy volumes of mail. These positions require the driver assigned to lift and load
several containers of mail into trucks, vans and or box trucks.
? Knowledge, acknowledgement and adherence of UMS driver safety policies and procedures
? Ability to perform the job duties of a “Mail Processor” as needed
? Escalate problems to the Supervisors and or Managers as necessary
? Report any vehicle problems in a timely manner
? Troubleshooter
? Ability to follow directions and accommodate UMS supervisor’s instructions.
? This may require the UMS Route Driver (employee) to productively function in a team setting as well as
alone.
? Escalate problems to the Supervisors, and or Managers as necessary
Job Qualifications for UMS Driver:
? Valid Wisconsin Driver’s License and maintain a good Motor Vehicle Record (see Driver Safety Policies)
? Ability to lift 20-25 lb. containers repetitively
? Ability to drive safely and confidently in all weather conditions
? Ability to follow directions
? Ability to multitask
