The Pile Driver Operator controls machines that safely and accurately hammer piles into the ground. The Operator reads and understands engineering plans to oversee or assist in the placement of piling templates and driving of various types of pilings.
The Pile Driver must have the ability to feel and manipulate hand and foot levers and valves to activate power hammer and control movement of hoists. The Pile Driver may oversee the construction and setting of various templates and forms; as well as site cleanup, tool controls and general maintenance.
The Pile Driver must have the ability to stand, walk, bend, stoop and squat. Having enough range of motion that will permit him/her to work in a variety of postures involving a range from floor to shoulder level is required. The Pile Driver will stand and walk for extended periods of time and must demonstrate that he/she can safely lift material weighing up to 40 lbs. from floor to shoulder level. Working at heights exceeding 5ft is required.
