Entry-Level Distribution Engineer

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Entry-Level Power Distribution Engineer to join a dynamic engineering team. This role is ideal for individuals with an engineering degree who are looking to build a strong foundation in power systems and electrical distribution while gaining hands-on experience supporting real-world utility and infrastructure projects.

In this role, you will contribute to the design, analysis, and implementation of electrical distribution systems that serve residential, commercial, and industrial customers. Working alongside experienced engineers and cross-functional teams, you'll gain exposure to industry-standard tools, participate in field activities, and develop the technical skills needed for long-term success in the power distribution industry.

• Assist in the design and layout of overhead and underground power distribution systems for residential, commercial, and industrial applications.
• Perform load calculations, voltage drop analysis, and equipment sizing to support safe and reliable electrical distribution designs.
• Support the preparation of engineering drawings, technical specifications, and project reports in accordance with industry standards and best practices.
• Collaborate with project teams, field engineers, and utility representatives to ensure coordinated project execution.
• Conduct site visits to gather field data, verify existing conditions, and support construction activities as needed.
• Ensure compliance with relevant industry standards, electrical codes, and safety regulations throughout the design and implementation process.
• Participate in project planning, scheduling, and budgeting activities to help maintain project timelines and resource allocation.
• Utilize software tools such as AutoCAD, GIS, and power system analysis programs to develop and refine distribution system designs.
• Contribute to continuous improvement efforts by applying analytical thinking and problem-solving skills to technical and project-related challenges.
• Demonstrate a proactive approach to learning new tools, methods, and industry practices within the power distribution field.

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, preferably Electrical, Mechanical, Civil, or a closely related discipline.
• Foundational knowledge of power distribution principles and distribution system design concepts.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to evaluate technical data and develop practical engineering solutions.
• Excellent written and verbal communication abilities for preparing documentation and collaborating with project stakeholders.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite for analysis, documentation, and reporting.
• Ability to work independently on assigned tasks while contributing effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
• Demonstrated eagerness to learn and grow within the power distribution and electrical engineering field.

• Familiarity with AutoCAD or similar computer-aided design software to support preparation of engineering drawings.
• Exposure to GIS tools and power system analysis programs is beneficial for modeling and evaluating distribution networks.
• Interest in working on a variety of residential, commercial, and industrial projects within the power distribution sector.
• Ability to participate in project planning, scheduling, and budgeting processes with attention to detail and accuracy.
• Willingness to conduct site visits and engage with field conditions to better understand the practical aspects of distribution system implementation.

This position combines office-based engineering work with occasional field visits to support power distribution projects. You'll work with tools such as AutoCAD, GIS, and power system analysis software while collaborating with engineers, project teams, and utility representatives. Field work may include site inspections, data collection, and support of construction activities as needed.

Typical working hours follow a standard business schedule, with project timelines guiding workload and priorities. Dress code is generally business casual in the office, with practical and safety-appropriate attire required when visiting field or construction sites.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Raleigh, NC.

The pay range for this position is $27.00 - $30.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
