Conflicts Attorney

Direct Counsel is seeking an experienced Conflicts Attorney to join a premier international labor and employment law firm. This is a fully remote position open to candidates located on the East Coast or West Coast of the United States.

The firm is seeking an attorney with 2+ years of substantive law-firm conflicts experience to join its New Business Intake team. The Conflicts Attorney will evaluate and resolve potential conflicts involving new business, lateral hires, and RFPs, working closely with attorneys, the General Counsel’s Office, Risk Management, and intake professionals.

Work Arrangement: Full-time, fully remote position.

Responsibilities:

  • Analyze complex conflict reports and identify potential conflicts of interest involving new business, lateral hires, and RFPs.

  • Research applicable jurisdictional conflict, ethics, and professional responsibility rules and opinions.

  • Independently evaluate potential conflicts and assist attorneys with resolution strategies.

  • Prepare clear communications to attorneys regarding potential conflicts and recommended resolutions.

  • Request and maintain documentation necessary to clear actual or potential conflicts.

  • Draft conflict consents and waivers.

  • Prepare and implement ethical walls.

  • Assist with client guidelines related to conflicts, confidentiality, and ethical obligations.

  • Help develop and implement conflicts policies and procedures.

  • Provide guidance and training to New Business Intake Analysts and administrative staff.

  • Maintain knowledge of developments in legal ethics, professional responsibility, conflicts, and confidentiality.

  • Coordinate updates to the conflicts database and ensure accurate conflict reporting.

  • Respond to conflicts-related inquiries from attorneys and staff while maintaining strict confidentiality.

Qualifications:

  • J.D. from an accredited law school.

  • Active membership in good standing with the bar association of the relevant jurisdiction.

  • 2+ years of hands-on conflicts experience in a law firm environment, such as Conflicts Attorney, Conflicts Analyst, Risk Management Attorney, or Professional Responsibility role.

  • Strong knowledge of conflicts of interest, legal ethics, and professional responsibility.

  • Experience with conflicts databases and legal technology, including Intapp Open and Intapp Walls.

  • Excellent analytical, organizational, written, and verbal communication skills.

  • Ability to exercise independent judgment and manage multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment.

  • Strong attention to detail and discretion when handling sensitive information.

Compensation: $120,000–$160,000 base salary, depending on location, experience, qualifications, skills, and other job-related factors.
