TITLE:Manufacturing Engineer
DEPARTMENT:Exhaust Engineering
REPORTS TO:Production Manager
LOCATION: La Crosse, WI
JOB SUMMARY:Join the team that designs and manufactures industry-leading performance exhaust systems for V-Twin motorcycles. As a Manufacturing Engineer with S&S Cycle's Exhaust Business Unit, you will play a key role in improving manufacturing processes, increasing production efficiency, and supporting the launch of innovative new products. Working closely with Production, Engineering, Quality, and Maintenance teams, you'll develop manufacturing solutions that enhance safety, quality, delivery, and cost while helping deliver the ultimate customer experience in the powersports industry through proven performance.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Develop documented work standards and instructions for manufacturing processes
Lead the implementation of new processes for quality and efficiency gains
Champion cost savings initiatives in assigned areas. This includes researching, proposing, implementing and documenting current vs. proposed method
Thoroughly understand and adhere to both department and company wide goals, objectives, and strategy
Monitor and update manufacturing processes using tools such as SPC monitoring, machine cycle time monitoring, manual time studies and value stream mapping
Assist in the design of tools and fixtures with the Tool Room and NC Programming Department
Design automated solutions to replace manual systems
Design cell layouts and maintain plant layout for optimum product flow
Assist and advise in the selection of new machines
Design jobs and processes that are ergonomically sound and safe
Work with manufacturing and engineering departments on successful new product introductions including design for manufacturing, BOM creation and documenting standard work
Assist in the quotation of prospective external work and new products by accurately estimating standard costs
Use analytical tools to assist in, and support any make vs buy decisions
Establish and maintain credibility throughout the organization as an effective developer of solutions
Present and maintain positive morale amongst employees
QUALIFICATIONS:
B.S. Manufacturing, Industrial, or Mechanical Engineering or related field of study
3+ years’ experience working in manufacturing
Flexible, energetic, forward-thinking, and creative with high moral and ethical standards
High analytical ability, good judgment, and strong operational focus
Well organized and self-directed
Able to relate to people at all levels of the organization in a positive fashion
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Working knowledge of computer applications including MS Office, and ERP Systems
Knowledge and understanding of internal combustion engines, robotics/automation system solution development, and setup and programming knowledge
Must be able to read and interpret blueprint and GD&T
In-depth knowledge and experience within CAD systems
Lean Certification and/or project management experience a plus
WORKING CONDITIONS & PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Will be required to perform job duties outside of the typical office setting in a production environment as well as in an office
While performing duties of this job, the employee may be exposed to moving mechanical parts and forklift traffic
The noise level is moderate, and some production areas may require hearing protection in accordance with OSHA requirements
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to sit, stand, walk, use hands to manipulate objects, tools or controls, reach with hands and arms above shoulders, balance, stoop, kneel, or crouch
Frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds unassisted and up to 100 pounds with assistance
Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision and depth perception
Must comply with safety and PPE standards, including but not limited to safety glasses, hearing protection, and safety toed shoes
Approximately 10% travel; primarily local during the business day with some overnight or out of the area travel expected
