Job Description

The Machine Builder is responsible for the CNC mechanical assembly measurements and the assembly of main-assemblies, sub-assemblies and components, ensuring that the CNC meets established assembly build requirements.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Layout of factory floor for CNC machine base and sub-assemblies.
  • Ability to read, interpret and follow mechanical, hydraulic, lubrication, pneumatic and electrical schematics and drawings.
  • Measurement of mounting surfaces for linear rails, ballscrews and linear/rotary scales utilizing precision measuring equipment (indictors, levels, lasers, cubes/squares, associated software).
  • Installation of linear rails, ballscrews and linear/rotary scales to factory specifications.
  • Measuring and installation of sub-assemblies (columns, machining units, pallet changer, tool changer, tool magazine)
  • Perform geometrical measurements according to factory measuring protocols.
  • Fitting, aligning, calibrating and adjusting parts and mechanisms to meet tolerances and product operating requirements.
  • Maintain a clean and orderly work environment.

Education and Experience:

  • Advanced technician training or related apprenticeship or a minimum of 4 years related experience.
  • Previous CNC machining and precision machine assembly build experience preferred.
  • NC programming experience a plus

Job Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Ability to read, interpret and follow blueprints.
  • Strong mechanical skills
  • Strong knowledge of CNC controls (Siemens/Fanuc)
  • Time management skills
  • Self-motivated; able to work alone or in a team.
  • Full understanding of the metric system
  • Strong math skills
  • Strong troubleshooting skills
  • Willing to work overtime as required.
  • Some travel domestic and international required.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a valid passport.

Physical Demands:

  • Frequent: Standing, walking, climbing, bending, squatting, stooping, crawling and reaching. Pushing, pulling, and lifting objects. Repetitive foot, leg, hand, arm, shoulder, and torso movements.
  • Periodic: Operating power equipment, sitting at desk, utilizing computers and phones.
  • Occasional: Lifting or moving up to 50lbs.

Personal Protective Equipment:

  • Safety glasses
  • Hearing protection may be required while performing specific tasks.
  • Steel toe safety shoes may be required while performing specific tasks.

Work Environment:

  • Works in a plant environment.
  • Some travel may be required.

Will be required to perform other duties as requested, directed, or assigned.
