Employment Type:Approximately 6-Month Contract with Potential for Permanent Hire

Talent Group is recruiting on behalf of a manufacturing organization in Jeffersonville, Indiana for an experiencedManufacturing Execution System (MES) Software Engineer.

This is an approximately6-month contract opportunity with the potential to transition to a permanent position based on business needs and performance.Permanent employment is not guaranteed.

The MES Software Engineer will provide technical expertise to manufacturing operations, supporting shop-floor applications, machine integration, and production systems. This position will play an important role in implementing new production-line systems while enhancing and maintaining existing manufacturing applications.

A strong background withIgnition applications and manufacturing systemsis highly preferred.

Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as a subject matter expert for Operations and Quality-related MES modules.
  • Develop, configure, support, and maintainIgnition applications, including Perspective, Vision, and Designer.
  • Support manufacturing applications, production-line systems, and machine integration.
  • Design and implement integrations betweenIgnition, PLCs, MES, ERP, SCADA, and SQL databases.
  • Enable real-time production monitoring, data collection, visualization, and reporting.
  • Configure and maintain Ignition tag structures, alarms, notifications, historian data collection, and user security.
  • Conduct testing and validation of MES systems to ensure accuracy, reliability, and proper functionality.
  • Troubleshoot manufacturing applications, system interfaces, communications, and integration issues.
  • Monitor and optimize Ignition gateway performance.
  • Modify and enhance existing manufacturing applications as production requirements change.
  • Work closely with Operations, Quality, Engineering, and other technical teams to support manufacturing systems.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree inComputer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • Experience developing and supportingIgnition applications in a manufacturing environment is preferred.
  • Experience with manufacturing systems and shop-floor technology is strongly preferred.
  • Knowledge or experience withMES, PLC, ERP, SCADA, and SQL database integrations.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in both office and manufacturing environments.
  • Must meet the position's U.S. person requirements.

Work Environment

This position involves work in both office and manufacturing environments. Manufacturing areas may require personal protective equipment, including steel-toed shoes, safety glasses with side shields, and hearing protection.

The employee may occasionally be exposed to moving mechanical equipment, airborne particles, vibration, odors, varying temperatures, and elevated noise levels.

Physical Requirements

The position primarily involves sitting and working with computer systems but may also require occasional standing, walking, reaching, and movement throughout the manufacturing facility. The employee may occasionally lift or move up to 10 pounds.
