Job Description Summary:

Serve food and beverages to guests in the dining room. Serves the number of tables as designated by management including the number of turns per shift. Must be able to work all shifts and all days of the week including holidays and weekends.

Job Tasks:

• Acknowledges all guests in timely and pleasant manner.

• Serves all guests in efficient, timely and pleasant manner.

• Has knowledge of daily specials, menu items, liquor/wine selections and prices. Preparation methods and ingredients should be known also to enhance upselling and guest questions.

• Upsells to maximize guest check average – i.e. juice, desserts, specials, drinks, etc.

• Properly documents all orders and understands operation of pre-check machine.

• Delivers all food and beverages in a timely, efficient and service oriented manner.

• Follows up with all guests to assure satisfaction, monitors all guest comments, addresses appropriately and, if possible,

resolves guest complaints and informs management in a timely manner.

• Keeps guests’ water and beverages (refillable) full with fresh ice where applicable.

• Maintains sanitation requirements.

• Performs opening and closing side work.

• May be required to total guest checks and accept payment.

• Perform other duties as required or requested by management staff.

Other Duties and Responsibilities:

• Communicate with persons outside of hotel – communicate with persons outside of the hotel, representing the

hotel to guests, the public in person, in writing, by telephone or by email in a professional manner consistent with the

policies of the hotel.

• Communicate with supervisors, peers or subordinates – provide information to supervisors, peers and

subordinates in person, in writing, by telephone or by email in a professional manner consistent with the policies of the hotel.

o Maintain a friendly, positive attitude with guests and employees.

o Adhere to all policies, procedures and standards set forth by this department, the hotel.

o Comply with all safety, OSHA and Serve Safe requirements.

o Maintain a professional and clean working environment.

o Report to work as scheduled, in uniform including name tag.

o Direct any questions or concerns to restaurant manager.

Required Knowledge:

To perform this job successfully, employee must be able to perform each essential job task satisfactorily.

• Guest and Personal Service – provide optimum guest service by actively looking for ways to help the guest. Ability to convey information effectively, to listen with full attention to what other people are saying, asking questions as appropriate, and not interrupting at inappropriate times. This includes guest needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of guest satisfaction.

• Language Skills – excellent spoken and written English communication skills.

• Reasoning Ability – Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions.

Required Skills:

• Equipment/Computer Expertise – May be required to operate pre-check machine and cash register and make change.

• Mathematical Skills - Basic knowledge of mathematical skills - (ability to add, subtract, multiply, or divide quickly and correctly) - as necessary to perform the functions of the position.

Certificates/Licenses - Must obtain required trainings for the F&B Dept.

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. The employee should be able to move around and work with others in a small, confined area. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. • Trunk Strength – the ability to use your abdominal and lower back muscles to support part of the body repeatedly or continuously over time without “giving out” or fatiguing. Must be able to stand for several hours at a time.

• Wrist-Finger Speed – the ability to make fast, simple, repeated movements of the fingers, hands and wrists.

• Lifting – the ability to occasionally lift and/or move up to 30 pounds.
