At Loll Designs, we're looking for a Manufacturing Engineering Intern who is excited to learn how engineering, manufacturing, and continuous improvement come together in a real-world production environment.
This internship offers hands-on experience working alongside manufacturing engineers and production teams. You'll have opportunities to apply what you're learning in the classroom to projects involving process improvement, tooling, plant layout, time studies, equipment, and new product development.

What You'll Find Here
A collaborative, hands-on environment where you'll work alongside manufacturing engineers and production teams while gaining exposure to:

You'll have opportunities to see how engineering decisions translate from an idea or drawing into the processes, equipment, and people needed to manufacture a product successfully.
A Few Practical Details
- This internship is based in Duluth, MN and provides opportunities to work in both office and manufacturing environments.
- The internship is to begin as part-time in the spring semester 2027 and transition to full-time first-shift hours in the summer, with an expected end date around August 2027.

- Manufacturing areas may include exposure to noise, dirt, equipment, and active production processes.
How You'll Make an Impact
- Assist manufacturing engineers with developing and improving standard work, including work instructions and time studies
- Assist with plant layout updates and manufacturing flow improvements
- Apply lean manufacturing principles to identify and support process improvements
- Support production projects, including the evaluation, selection, and implementation of new equipment
- Participate in new product and manufacturing process development
- Work alongside production teams to identify, troubleshoot, and improve manufacturing processes
- Participate in cross-functional problem-solving and continuous improvement activities
- Gain experience managing engineering projects from initial problem identification through implementation
What Helps You Thrive
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field
- Interest in manufacturing, process improvement, and hands-on engineering
- Familiarity with SolidWorks or other CAD software through coursework, projects, or previous experience
- Curiosity and a willingness to learn
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
- Ability to communicate and collaborate with people across different teams and disciplines
- Organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple priorities
