Shift: 6:30 am to 3:30 pm
Pay rate:$20.00

Summary:
We are seeking a dedicated Machine Operator I to set up and operate one or more centerless grinding machines. The operator will grind external cylindrical or tapered surfaces of rotating metal, aluminum, and plastic workpieces to blueprint specifications, following detailed instructions and applying knowledge of grinding procedures.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manufacture quality parts in a timely manner.
  • Identify and report problems with machines or machining processes to avoid scrap and seek continuous improvements.
  • Read blueprints and job orders for product specifications, including dimensions, tolerances, and the number of parts to be ground.
  • Accurately prepare necessary paperwork in a timely manner.
  • Lift and position workpieces manually or with a hoist, securing them on the work rest.
  • Start machines and observe operations, verifying dimensions of ground workpieces for conformance to specifications using measuring instruments such as micrometers, calipers, and preset gauges.
  • Change worn grinding wheels using wrenches and set up any accessories required for grinding operations.
  • Communicate with co-workers and supervisors to receive instructions and coordinate activities.
  • Inspect and measure parts to maintain statistical process control charts as needed.
  • Follow other job-related instructions and perform additional job-related duties/projects as requested by the Manager.
Skills, Traits, and Competencies:
  • Basic math and mechanical aptitude.
  • Flexible outlook in operating equipment.
  • Strict adherence to safety standards and practices.
Physical Demands:
  • Constantly exert up to 3 lbs of force to move objects.
  • Frequently exert 5 to 10 lbs of force.
  • Occasionally exert 15 to 30 lbs of force.
  • Rarely exert 50 lbs of force with lifting assistance.
  • Engage in standing, walking, pushing, turning, bending, and pulling at waist level.
