Position Summary

SEG Sparkstone is seeking a dependable, safety-focused, and motivated Shipping & Receiving Material Handler to join our team. This role is responsible for the accurate receipt, storage, movement, and shipment of materials and products throughout the facility. The position serves as a key point of contact for customers, freight brokers, carriers, and delivery drivers to coordinate inbound and outbound shipments, ensure on-time deliveries, and maintain accurate shipping documentation.

The ideal candidate will support manufacturing operations through efficient material handling, accurate inventory transactions, and timely shipment processing. As a Shipping & Receiving Material Handler, you will play a critical role in maintaining inventory accuracy, supporting production schedules, and ensuring customer shipments are delivered on time.

Position Responsibilities

  • Receive, inspect, unload, store, and distribute incoming materials to support production and warehouse operations.
  • Pick, package, stage, and load outbound shipments according to customer and carrier requirements.
  • Coordinate inbound and outbound shipments with customers, freight brokers, carriers, and delivery drivers to ensure timely pickups and deliveries.
  • Prepare and process shipping documentation, including bills of lading, packing slips, labels, and carrier paperwork, while ensuring all records are accurate and complete.
  • Enter shipping, receiving, inventory, and freight data into ERP and warehouse management systems.
  • Operate forklifts, overhead cranes, and other material handling equipment safely and efficiently.
  • Maintain inventory accuracy through proper material handling, cycle counts, inventory reconciliation, and transaction processing.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment while following all company safety procedures.
  • Investigate and resolve shipping discrepancies while partnering with internal teams, customers, and carriers to ensure timely resolution; perform other duties as assigned.

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Previous shipping, receiving, warehouse, or material handling experience preferred.
  • Forklift experience required; overhead crane experience preferred.
  • Ability to read and interpret shipping documents, packing slips, bills of lading, and receiving paperwork.
  • Strong communication and customer service skills with the ability to interact professionally with customers, freight brokers, carriers, and drivers.
  • Experience coordinating shipments, scheduling pickups, and tracking deliveries.
  • Proficient in data entry and maintaining accurate shipping, receiving, and inventory records using ERP or warehouse management systems.
  • Strong organizational, time management, and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and adapt in a fast-paced environment.
  • Self-motivated with sound decision-making skills and a commitment to safety and quality.
  • Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office applications.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
  • Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to bend, stoop, reach, and work in a manufacturing and warehouse environment.
  • Ability to safely operate forklifts, cranes, and other material handling equipment.
  • Ability to work in a warehouse and manufacturing environment, including exposure to varying temperatures, noise, and moving equipment.
