The Senior Inside Account Manager serves as the operational leader for the Valve Inside Sales team. This role is responsible for providing daily leadership, coaching, and direction to Inside Account Managers while ensuring exceptional customer service, operational execution, and profitable sales growth.

Working closely with Leadership, Technical Account Managers, Product Specialists, Project Managers, and Operations, this position establishes priorities, develops team capabilities, improves sales processes, and helps drive strategic initiatives across the business.

In addition to leadership responsibilities, the Senior Inside Account Manager will manage key customer relationships, support complex quotations and negotiations, and ensure the team consistently delivers an outstanding customer experience.

How you’ll make an impact:

Leadership & Team Development

  • Provide day-to-day leadership, coaching, and mentorship to the Valve Shop Inside Account Management team
  • Foster a collaborative, customer-focused culture that reflects AWC's Winning Together philosophy
  • Assist with onboarding, training, and professional development of new Inside Account Managers
  • Conduct regular coaching sessions focused on customer engagement, technical knowledge, quoting accuracy, and sales effectiveness.
  • Monitor team workload and prioritize resources to meet customer commitments
  • Identify opportunities to improve team efficiency, communication, and overall performance
  • Partner with Management on employee development, succession planning, and performance management initiatives.

Customer & Sales Leadership

  • Develop, maintain, and grow strategic customer relationships
  • Serve as the escalation point for complex customer opportunities and service issues
  • Lead pricing strategies, quote reviews, and commercial negotiations for high-value opportunities
  • Review and approve complex quotations while ensuring margin objectives are achieved
  • Support Technical Account Managers in developing account strategies and customer growth plans
  • Analyze customer purchasing trends and identify opportunities for increased market share
  • Assist with forecasting, pipeline management, and sales planning

Operational Excellence

  • Oversee RFQ and Purchase Order processing to ensure accuracy and timely execution
  • Ensure quote follow-up activities are completed consistently across the team
  • Partner with Purchasing, Operations, and Project Management to expedite critical customer orders
  • Improve internal workflows that increase responsiveness, efficiency, and customer satisfaction
  • Develop and implement best practices for quoting, order management, and customer communications
  • Utilize sales metrics and reporting to monitor team performance and identify improvement opportunities

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Work closely with Product Managers, Engineering, Project Management, Operations, and Supply Chain to deliver complete customer solutions
  • Support strategic initiatives that improve customer experience and operational efficiency
  • Assist leadership with continuous improvement initiatives and process standardization
  • Promote collaboration across all AWC business units

Skills you’ll need:

  • Demonstrated success in industrial inside sales or account management
  • Proven ability to lead, mentor, or supervise sales or customer service professionals
  • Strong customer relationship management skills

Here’s what will set you apart:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business, Industrial Technology, or related technical discipline
  • 5+ years of industrial automation, controls, instrumentation, or process technology sales experience
  • Previous leadership, supervisory, or team lead experience
  • Working knowledge of industrial automation products including:
    • Sensors
    • Pneumatics
    • Process Instrumentation
    • Control Valves
    • Actuators
    • Positioners
    • Safety Systems
  • Experience with manufacturing, OEM, process automation, or industrial end-user markets
  • Experience with CRM systems, ERP platforms, and sales analytics
