Job Title: Battery Manufacturing Engineer

Job Description

Join our North American Battery Manufacturing Engineering Department as a passionate and highly motivated Contract Engineer within our Implementation Group. This role focuses on production preparation and the new model launch of EV battery manufacturing equipment. The position is based in Liberty, North Carolina, and involves collaboration with various stakeholders to achieve project milestones.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in daily written and verbal reports up to the Senior Manager level.
  • Develop process plans for battery production lines with support from the Manager.
  • Collaborate with Engineers, Construction Management Group, Technicians, Vendors, and General Contractors to achieve project milestones.
  • Procure equipment, plan installations, execute commissioning, and conduct pre-production trials for battery production lines.
  • Engage in advanced cleanliness protocols necessary for the battery manufacturing area.
  • Lead or support equipment trials at vendors and on the manufacturing floor to ensure safety, quality, and productivity targets are met.
  • Identify punchlist items, conduct root cause analysis, and manage countermeasures.
  • Summarize KPIs, manage mass-production handover, and support production issues.
  • Engage with cross-functional teams (domestic and international) to discuss open items and project schedules/milestones.
  • Create and maintain detailed schedules and budgets for assigned areas.
  • Complete internal and external training.

Essential Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Engineering or a similar technical field.
  • 3+ years of professional experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience in production preparation and execution of capital projects.
  • Project management experience with capital investments over $0.5M.
  • Ability to read and interpret 2D drawings.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.).
  • Proficiency with 2D and 3D drafting software such as AutoCAD.
  • Ability for domestic and international business travel up to 10%.
  • Willingness to work weekends, holidays, and shutdown periods as needed.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Mitsubishi PLC Programming experience.
  • SCADA Systems experience.
  • MES experience.
  • Experience with Kepware software or similar SCADA Data systems.
  • PLC experience including the ability to read, interpret, and modify.

Work Environment

This position requires 100% onsite presence in Liberty, North Carolina. Expect up to 25% travel within the United States and limited international travel to Japan, Canada, and Mexico. Approximately 25% overtime is anticipated. The role is part of the BEV function supporting EV battery production setup and new model launches, focusing on electrode, module, and powertrain operations. The dress code is business casual.

This is a Contract position based out of Liberty, NC.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $50.00 - $60.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
