Job Description

Principal Hardware Engineer – Electrical/Electronics

Holland or Novi, Michigan | Hybrid

GHSP, a global supplier of advanced automotive technologies, is seeking a Principal Hardware Engineer to provide technical leadership across our electrical engineering organization. This is a senior individual contributor role for someone who enjoys solving complex design problems, shaping architecture, and helping other engineers strengthen their technical capabilities.

Our teams develop electronics for vehicle systems including electronic shifters, BLDC pumps, drivetrain actuators, sensors, and vehicle ECUs. You’ll work across multiple product programs, influencing both current designs and GHSP’s longer-term technical direction.

What You’ll Do

  • Define electrical hardware architecture and guide technical decisions across multiple programs.
  • Lead complex designs from early concept through validation, launch, and production.
  • Solve hardware challenges involving performance, reliability, manufacturability, cost, and quality.
  • Provide technical leadership in design reviews and help establish sound engineering standards and practices.
  • Mentor engineers and strengthen technical capability across a global hardware organization.
  • Collaborate with Systems, Software, Mechanical, Manufacturing, Quality, customers, and suppliers.
  • Support product proposals, new-business opportunities, and technology roadmaps.

What You’ll Bring

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Extensive experience developing automotive electronics or other complex embedded hardware.
  • Strong technical depth in analog, digital, mixed-signal, and/or power-electronics design.
  • Experience with microcontroller-based systems and automotive communication protocols.
  • Knowledge of BLDC motor controls or motor-drive electronics.
  • Experience designing robust automotive hardware, including EMC/EMI, electrical transients, ESD, grounding, and circuit protection.
  • Working knowledge of functional safety, automotive hardware-development processes, and high-volume production launch.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead complex technical work, influence engineering decisions, and mentor other engineers.

You don’t need to be the foremost expert in every area. You do need enough breadth to understand how these disciplines work together, along with deep expertise in several of them.

Why GHSP?

This role offers the opportunity to work beyond the boundaries of a single project. You’ll help solve our most challenging hardware problems, influence architecture across multiple product lines, and develop electronics that move from concept into millions of vehicles.

GHSP offers a competitive salary, annual incentive opportunity, and comprehensive benefits package.

We are an equal opportunity employer and consider qualified applicants without regard to any status protected by applicable law.
