Overview

Our client is seeking a Desktop Support Technician to provide onsite deskside support for a growing corporate environment. This role will support an expanding office footprint and workforce, delivering hands-on technical assistance for desktop hardware, software, mobile devices, printers, and end-user computing services. Qualified candidates will work closely with internal IT teams and end users to ensure a high level of customer satisfaction and operational excellence.

This position offers long-term growth potential for high-performing technicians.

Responsibilities
  • Provide onsite deskside support for Windows 10 and Windows 11 environments.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve desktop, laptop, hardware, software, and peripheral issues.
  • Perform break/fix support for workstation hardware and operating systems.
  • Execute IMAC activities including installations, moves, adds, and changes.
  • Image, configure, deploy, and replace desktop and laptop systems.
  • Install, troubleshoot, and support approved software applications.
  • Support Microsoft Office applications including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Provide printer setup, troubleshooting, and maintenance support.
  • Deliver walk-up support through a Client Center/Tech Bar environment.
  • Maintain accurate documentation and update IT service management tickets.
  • Assist with asset management activities including inventory tracking, asset tagging, recovery, and disposal.
  • Support mobile devices including Android and iOS platforms.
  • Coordinate mobile device returns and prepare equipment for shipment and disposal.
  • Troubleshoot basic networking issues including wireless connectivity, network adapters, and VPN access.
  • Follow established support processes, procedures, and service delivery methodologies.
  • Collaborate with team members and business users to ensure timely issue resolution and exceptional customer service.
Required Qualifications
  • 2+ years of corporate desktop support, deskside support, or IT support experience.
  • Experience supporting Windows 10 and Windows 11 operating systems.
  • Hands-on experience with computer imaging, deployment, and configuration.
  • Strong hardware and software troubleshooting skills.
  • Experience supporting Microsoft Office applications and end-user productivity tools.
  • Familiarity with IT ticketing systems and incident management processes.
  • Experience supporting printers, peripherals, and mobile devices.
  • Basic understanding of networking concepts, including Wi-Fi, VPN connectivity, and network adapters.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong customer service and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently while also collaborating within a team environment.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working in a large enterprise or managed services environment.
  • Exposure to asset lifecycle management and inventory processes.
  • Experience providing support through a walk-up Tech Bar or customer-facing IT support center.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract position based out of Cedar Rapids, IA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $17.00 - $26.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
