HR Manager

Job Title: HR Manager Location: Pittsburgh, PA Type: Direct Hire Work Model: Onsite Overview:HR Manager of Commercial & Industrial Mechanical Contractor, overseeing a mixed union/non-union workforce across multiple regional offices.

Responsibilities

• Direct HR operations for both administrative staff and unionized trade employees across several facility locations
• Manage day-to-day HR needs within a mixed union and non-union workforce, ensuring consistent policy application across both groups
• Run recruiting and onboarding for corporate and field-based roles
• Manage benefits enrollment, leave tracking, and workers' compensation claims
• Maintain compliance with wage and hour law, prevailing wage rules, and certified payroll reporting
• Track HR data and reporting through construction-industry payroll/HR software and MS Office
• Coordinate with operations leadership on staffing levels and workforce planning
• Oversee disciplinary procedures, performance reviews, and policy enforcement
• Draft and revise HR policies and the employee handbook

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in HR, Business Administration, or related field preferred; PHR/SHRM-CP a plus
• 5-7 years in HR management, preferably within construction, mechanical contracting, or a comparable trade environment with a mixed union/non-union workforce
• Experience navigating HR practices across both union and non-union employee groups
• MS Office proficiency; familiarity with construction accounting/HR platforms such as Foundations preferred
• Working knowledge of employment law, wage/hour compliance, and benefits administration
• Ability to operate across both office and field/craft settings
