Material Handler / Shipping & Receiving Associate

Department: Materials
Reports To: Shipping Supervisor
Job Type: Full-Time

Job Summary

We are seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Material Handler / Shipping & Receiving Associate to support our Materials Department. The ideal candidate will have experience operating forklifts and electric pallet jacks, managing incoming and outgoing shipments, and maintaining accurate inventory records. This role plays a critical part in ensuring materials are received, stored, and delivered efficiently to support production schedules.

Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinate material movement activities based on production schedules and priorities.
  • Inspect and receive incoming materials, ensuring all items meet quality standards.
  • Prepare and process outgoing shipments, including scheduling carriers and optimizing loads.
  • Manage transportation logistics to ensure timely deliveries.
  • Utilize ERP systems and related software to maintain accurate inventory and material records.
  • Assist with inventory tracking and reporting; intermediate Excel skills are a plus.
  • Communicate shortages and urgent material needs to the Procurement Department.
  • Operate forklifts, electric pallet jacks, and other material handling equipment safely and efficiently.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education

  • High School Diploma or GED preferred.
  • Certification to operate industrial lifting equipment required.

Experience

  • Previous experience in a warehouse, manufacturing, shipping, or material handling environment.
  • Experience operating forklifts and electric pallet jacks.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to multitask and adapt to changing priorities.
  • Basic computer skills required.
  • Experience with ERP systems preferred.
  • Intermediate Microsoft Excel skills preferred.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, stoop, twist, and turn throughout the workday.
  • Frequent use of hands and arms.
  • Must possess 20/20 vision with or without corrective lenses.
  • Ability to occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
