REPORTS TO: Technical Support Supervisor

EMPLOYEE TYPE: Full-Time/Non-Exempt

SALARY: is commensurate with relevant and previous experience

PAY RANGE: $24.00 - $31.00

GENERAL JOB DESCRIPTION:

Chroma Systems Solutions, Inc. is a leading designer and manufacturer of power testing instruments and systems including programmable AC Power Source and DC Power Supplies, AC loads and DC Electronic Loads, Digital Power Meters and Automated Testing Systems for applications in LED Lighting, Led Drivers, Aerospace, Defense, Military, Automotive, Medical, Battery, Solar, Marine, and Regulatory Testing.

The Support Engineer provides world-class technical support to Chroma customers, serving as a subject matter expert for ATE power measurement systems and related technologies. This role is responsible for diagnosing and resolving customer issues, performing equipment calibrations, and providing on-site technical support when needed.

When working in-house, the Support Engineer responds to customer inquiries within established resolution timeframes, troubleshooting issues and escalating complex matters when additional expertise or resources are required. The engineer will also perform calibrations and develop a strong understanding of Chroma products and technologies to serve as a trusted technical resource for both customers and internal teams.

When traveling to customer sites, the Support Engineer provides hands-on technical assistance with system installation, calibration, troubleshooting, and related service activities. The role will also develop advanced knowledge of Chroma’s PowerPro and Captivate software packages to support customer training and ensure customers are able to effectively utilize their systems.

All responsibilities are performed in accordance with management direction and in compliance with Chroma USA policies, procedures, and quality standards.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide customer support on AC Sources, DC Sources, AC/DC loads, Electrical Safety Test Equipment (EST) and Battery Test Systems
  • Handle customer requests for assistance via phone calls or emails to fully understanding the issues
  • Handle Web Chat Communications
  • Perform troubleshooting and replication of customer set up to ascertain problem
  • Read schematics, apply electronic theory to customer issues involving duplicating customer set ups to assess and resolve issues
  • Become proficient with PowerPro, Battery Pro, Battery Simulator and Captivate proprietary software
  • Ability to travel domestically for business needs (>10%) - (some weekend/holiday travel may be required)
  • Continuous review of process for improvement

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum two (2) years of formal technical school in electricity/electronics, required
  • Minimum five (5) years of experience using AC power electronics / Battery Test Solutions OR Degree in Electronic Technology or Electrical Engineering from an accredited university or institution
  • Capacity to work under tight or shifting deadlines and adhere to procedures
  • Solid electrical knowledge to be able to understand industry requirements and best practices
  • Use critical thinking skills to solve complex technical issues
  • Using combination of hard and soft skills and apply technical knowledge to assist with customer and business needs
  • Professional verbal and written communication skills when conversing with various levels through the organization

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

This is a non-supervisory position

General office skills and dexterity are required. Must be able to lift 30 pounds.
