Controller

Robert Half has partnered with an automotive dealer that is hiring a controller. We are looking for an experienced Controller with industry experience to oversee core accounting operations and provide accurate, timely financial reporting for the organization. This role is responsible for leading the close process, maintaining the integrity of financial data, and supporting sound business decisions through reliable analysis and reporting. The ideal candidate brings strong automotive experience or has worked in a CPA on automotive clients. This is an individual contributor role to start, so no management experience is needed.

Responsibilities:

• Direct monthly and year-end closing activities to ensure records are complete, accurate, and finalized on schedule.

• Prepare and review financial statements, delivering clear reporting that supports leadership decision-making.

• Oversee the production of recurring monthly financial reports and verify consistency across all reporting periods.

• Maintain accounting controls and monitor financial transactions to protect data accuracy and compliance.

• Analyze account balances, investigate variances, and resolve discrepancies in a timely manner.

• Coordinate with internal stakeholders to gather financial information and improve reporting efficiency.

• Support audit and compliance efforts by organizing documentation and responding to financial information requests.Ro

• At least 5 years of experience in dealership or automotive industry

• Strong background managing month-end close and year-end closing processes.

• Demonstrated experience preparing and reviewing financial statements.

• Proven ability to produce accurate monthly financial statements within strict deadlines.

• Degree in accounting or finance
