Position Details

Location:Chicago, IL 60632
Employment Type:Temp-to-hire
Schedule:Monday–Friday, 6:00 a.m.–2:30 p.m.
Pay:$25–$30 per hour
Required Experience:EDI and SPS Commerce in a food manufacturing environment

Position Summary
The Data Entry / Customer Service Representative manages customer orders from entry through delivery while serving as a key liaison between customers and internal departments. This role provides product and service information, resolves account issues, supports inventory management, and helps ensure customer expectations are consistently met.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage assigned customer orders from entry through delivery.
  • UseEDI and SPS Commercesystems to process and track orders.
  • Serve as the primary contact for customer questions, needs, and concerns.
  • Proactively identify potential issues and resolve them before they affect the customer.
  • Monitor inventory levels, report inventory status, and recommend replenishment actions when needed.
  • Follow all steps of the order fulfillment process using network systems, word-processing tools, and spreadsheet applications.
  • Collaborate with internal departments to ensure accurate pricing, products, quantities, and order details.
  • Prepare clear and concise reports, documentation, and routine customer correspondence.
  • Investigate and resolve customer complaints involving damages, shortages, incorrect quantities, or incorrect items.
  • Support the Customer Service Manager with additional responsibilities as assigned.

Required Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience withEDI and SPS Commerce required.
  • Prior industry or order-management customer service experience preferred.
  • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities independently.
  • Strong mathematical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including:
    • Outlook
    • Word
    • Excel
    • PowerPoint
